Her oxygen level dropped below 90, and my friend was told she was going to be placed on a ventilator. He dropped everything he was doing and flew to her side in Phoenix. He removed her from the hospital

Smart move. Levels in the 80's are clearly survivable.

As well, if they use pulse oxymetry to determine blood oxygen levels they might possibly be guilty of malpractice. An Arterial Blood Gas is imperative before intubating /ventilating someone unless there is serious trauma or obvious occlusion involved.
