It’s the electoral mechanics, stupid! GOP must insist on a return to pre-2020 election system in competitive states or die

And replace the party with what..?? Only candidates that are ideologically “pure” from who’s standpoint..???

Indeed it’s the elephant in the room, no pun intended. Now what are we going to do about it?

It’s the Republican establishment that allowed this in their desire to get rid of Trump and maintain control over the party. Now, the genie’s out of the bottle. Democrats aren’t going to allow changes to this in states they control.

Replace it with people who are t bought and paid for politicians only interested in their own enrichment and self-aggrandizement (that’d be people like McConnell and Graham, respectively).

"It’s the electoral mechanics..."

Leave the electoral mechanics alone! Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a good mechanic?

RE: Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a good mechanic?

I can appreciate how hard it is to find a good mechanic. We should really be encouraging more young people to go to this vocational training, instead of paying tens of thousands of dollars for useless woke courses in college that make them unemployable and in debt after graduation.

By voting mechanics, I think the author is referring to the WAY the elections are conducted. The bottom line is we CANNOT TOLERATE an election that takes nearly A WEEK OR MORE to find out who won( e.g. Nevada and Arizona, both problematic states in 2020 and STILL IS TODAY ).

France, with a population of 67+ million, much bigger than any state in the American republic, votes via paper ballots tucked in paper envelopes. No absentee voting. No early voting. Election workers hand count the votes in a matter of hours and report out results.

We’re still waiting for results from small states like Arizona, where, for example, the candidate seeking the governorship is the person in charge of the election, apparently to be trusted with votes tallied with machines that won’t read ballots printed with exhausted toner cartridges.

Why can’t we emulate a system that USED to work in the past and STILL WORKS today without controversy in other countries?

Looking at the quality of home repair people floating around now days, you are absolutely right.

Is Industrial Ed even taught in high school anymore? That was my favorite class.

<>The article praises Florida, but Florida has no-excuse mail-in voting. <>

FL has no-excuse absentee voting in which the voter shows ID at the supervisor of elections office to receive a ballot.

Big diff between absentee and mass mail away ballots in the corrupt states.

It is all in the article.

You do not have to appear in person to request a vote by mail ballot in Florida. You can request a ballot by mail, fax, or email.

It absolutely shouldn’t take this long to count votes. But that has nothing to do with the outcome of the election.

How do you know that?

How does the length of time it takes to count votes affect the outcome?

It’s too late, what is done is done and cannot be undone.

You can't change things unless you have the power. And the Right has ceded power to the Left. Stick a fork in us, we're done. Get ready for relinquishing your freedoms to global governance.

RE: How does the length of time it takes to count votes affect the outcome?

Enough mail-in ballots can be “discovered” and continually counted until the desired results are achieved.

That is why European countries and a U.S. commission that studied the feasibility of mail ballots ALL recommended AGAINST it. That should give you suspicion against this system.
