Sen. Raphael Warnock’s church could face subpoena over failed response on charitable operations

Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock’s church could soon be hit with a subpoena for failing to answer a legal inquiry into its charitable operations.

The Georgia Secretary of State’s Securities and Charities Division has demanded the Ebenezer Building Foundation — a foundation run the Democratic pol’s Ebenezer Baptist Church — explain its charitable status within the state, Fox News reported. The Division’s records indicate that Ebenezer Building Foundation, Inc […] is not registered as a charitable organization with the State of Georgia,” the Securities and Charities Division wrote in an Oct. 12 letter.

The letter added that the foundation could be slapped with hefty administrative penalties if it is found to be soliciting charitable contributions or operating as a charitable organization in Georgia without an active registration or applicable exemption.

It’s easy to imagine this punk “pastor” being a Buy Large Mansions kind of guy violating all sorts of state and Federal fraud laws. But thankfully for him he has some very powerful friends in DC (and elsewhere).
