Ukrainian Special Forces appear to have reached the Dnieper River bank past Kherson...

Ukrainian forces reach right bank of Dnieper in certain areas of Kherson region

Most of the people in those territories want the same thing.
They are treated terribly by the govt of Ukraine.

An entire generation of kids has gown up with hate for the other ethnicity.
Seems Ukraine wants the land, but not the people

“Hello, this is The West. We have some surrender terms for you.”

“Who is this? Nikolai? Dmitry? Come on, I am busy here.”

“It’s The West. You’re going to like these terms. Give up, go home, that’s basically it. Oh and a time share condo in a very nice part of Florida, reclaimed from the Everglades.”

“Shove it.”

“Can we take that as a maybe?”

“Shove it.”

“Okay, but keep this number, 1-666-JOE-ANHO. You may want to get back to us. Our next surrender offer will not be this good. Here’s a preview. All your crosswalks must become rainbow crosswalks. And you must apologize to that basketball player. In person.”

“This may surprise you, but we have no crosswalks. Everyone just goes where they want. It’s anarchy, but we don’t care about human life. As you are probably aware.”

“Then we have something in common.”

Putin only wants the Donbas region and he’s already got Crimea. If he wanted Kherson he’d be holding it.

Putin and Russia are not omnipotent.

If they were, they would own all of Ukraine by now.

In war, the other side gets a vote.

Putin and Russia never expected the Ukrainians to "vote" with arms, as vigorously and well as they have.

"The Russians lost 20,000,000 lives in WWII." Never forget. And the Battle of Stalingrad in the Winter of 1942 proves that war is hell. Both Stalin and Hitler wanted Stalingrad and both lacked wisdom. 300,000 Germans perished and 1,120,000 Russians were killed. Stalin used his victory to enslave fifteen countries by killing 20% of the citizens. Pope John Paul II ended Stalin's grip in 1989 with the support of Reagan and Thatcher. Today, the fog of war in Ukraine is hyped by the media to downplay the real loss of Stalin's grip.

EVERYTHING changes in 4 weeks; this is Putin's calm before the storm | Redacted with Clayton Morris

The ground in Ukraine will likely freeze in the next 4-7 weeks. When that happens, we will see everything change in Ukraine.

Right up to the Crimea... and able to completely blanket the northern approach... seems almost inevitable that Russia retreats to the Crimea and the Eastern provinces next.

Just cross out Ukraine and put in “Israel” and you have the humble pleas of the Palestinian terrorists...

Yes, Putin and his soldiers don't care about human life.

The exhumation work at the mass burial site in the Izyum Forest has been completed.

Out of 447 bodies, 30 had marks of severe torture.

Several men had been castrated.

The frozen ground should help the Russian tracked vehicles retreat more rapidly.

Why do Russian tanks have rear view mirrors?
So they can see the battlefield.

Useful map. Get a few dozen HIMARS in there, plus about 10x well made decoys, and Ukraine can pretty well cut off the land bridge from positions looking SE toward Mariupol.

As Russian forces withdrew from Kherson city, they advanced elsewhere in southern and northern Donbass.

That's funny. Last I saw, they were still on a slow retreat there with their major rail line threatened.

We are going to be hearing a lot of similar stories out of Kherson. Some already are. The Pro-Russian and Eurosceptic voters (the latter in particular not necessarily wanting to actually be Russian citizens - some just felt cooperation was still possible and preferable) added up to ~30% of the vote in the 2020 election. This actually correlates respectably well with the number of citizens said to have evacuated prior to the Russian military withdrawal.

I would not be surprised if partisan activity was a significant factor in Russia’s decision to withdraw, even if it consisted mainly of target spotting.

In other words in 4-7 weeks russian mobiks will be dying frozen under Ukrainian artillery fire, instead of dying hungry like they are now. Big improvement...

To clarify that slightly (wrote original too quickly):

We are going to be hearing a lot of similar stories out of Kherson. Some already are coming out. That would leave at least 70% of the population not happy at all to be invaded.

I would not be surprised if partisan activity was a significant factor in Russia’s decision to withdraw, even if it consisted mainly of target spotting.
