NEW: Youngkin responds to Trump dig: 'That's not the way I roll'

Virginia GOP Gov. Glenn Youngkin on Friday brushed off former President Trump's criticism of him – which followed his lieutenant governor, Winsome Sears, saying Trump should remove himself from GOP electoral politics.

"Listen, you all know me," Youngkin told reporters. "I do not call people names. I really work hard to bring people together … . That's not the way I roll and not the way I behave."

The governor's response followed Trump's criticism of him earlier Friday morning.

"Young Kin (now that's an interesting take. Sounds Chinese, doesn't it?) in Virginia couldn't have won without me," Trump posted on Truth Social. "I Endorsed him, did a very big Trump Rally for him telephonically, got MAGA to Vote for him - or he couldn't have come close to winning."

Trump also wrote: "But he knows that, and admits it. Besides, having a hard time with the Dems in Virginia - But he'll get it done!"

Sears suggested that Trump leave GOP politics following the midterm election results, in which the GOP under-performed, with much of the criticism aimed at Trump and the quality of candidates he endorsed.

Trump cannot fight a war if he cannot get elected. His behavior is costing him support. I’m to the right of at least 80% of America and he’s lost mine. I’d vote for him in the general but won’t vote for him in the primary. I know two members of my family who voted for him in 2020 (but refused in 2016) and they won’t vote for him period. It took a lot of talking to convince them to vote for Trump in 2020 and they won’t budge in 2024.

Trump is shooting himself. No one is attacking him. It is what HE is posting that is driving people away. And I honestly don’t think he could have won a majority anyways after Jan 2021. I didn’t give a horse fart about 6 Jan - but that cost Trump. In America, Trump would have won by at most 52-48. If he loses 10% of his potential voters, his max is stuck at 47%. That’s called “losing”.

Stop dropping gratuitous insults, especially on members of your own party.

Mitt Romney is supposedly from my party.

Paul Ryan is supposedly from my party.

Mitch McConnell is supposedly from my party.

Lindsay Graham is supposedly from my party.

Kevin McCarthy is supposedly from my party.

Would you like me to continue?

You make some good points. And I agree that his delivery is not the best, but don’t agree that no one is attacking him. EVERYONE is attacking him—24/7. I’ve never seen anyone who has been attacked in every possible way in every area of his life the way he has and us still standing. His style isn’t my style but he is a strong ombre, knows what he’s up against (many other politicians and world leaders are horrible people. Corrupt in ways we can’t even fathom.) and is willing to risk his comfortable life and even actual life (b/c I do think there’s a risk) to keep the country from falling even further into the hands of very bad people worldwide. The rest may talk nice and present themselves well but are not doing such nice things behind the scenes. They are slick. Trump is not slick—he’s straightforward which people don’t like. They would rather have a smooth talker who lies to them. What can I say, most politicians are sociopaths.

Why are you excusing Trump’s gratuitous insults specifically of DeSantis and Youngkin? This was uncalled for. it’s boorish.

Youngkin needs to explain why Northern Virginia still brutalizes schoolchildren psychologically in spite of his remonstrations...

He reminds me of a former MA governor nicknamed “Mittens” who, ultimately, gave us obamycare...

C’mon Donald.......you’re sitting on $100 million.....

Give Herschel just the interest on 100 mill.

And if you sunk a few mill in I bonds you’re getting 9% interest.

Herschel needs it more than you do.

Trump is doing all that on his own. If he can’t handle a contested primary in 2024 he has no business running again.

Trump apologists cannot explain his stupid and unnecessary comments about Youngkin or others.

Trump has gotten over-confident since he started calling Jeb Bush “low energy Jeb” and it worked. Trump is never going to change at his age. His ego is higher than mount Everest.

One reason he lost so many voters to Biden is because Trump made more enemies than friends with mean tweets and insults.

But if Trump is the nominee in 2024, unlike low IQ republicans who will abstain, I am 100% sure to vote for Trump.

Can only buy $10,000 per year in I bonds per SS# or tax return. But good idea.

You, apparently, are too naive to understand when you are being recruited as a wedge.

You do know Lt Govs do not run on the same ticket and often states elect Lt Govs not even the same party as the gov. She speaks independently.

The problem is if DeSantis and Trump both run and split the MAGA vote, that could allow someone like Liz Cheney to win the nomination, and nobody here wants to see that.
