Trump Calls DeSantis An ‘Average’ Governor, Says He Was ‘Politically Dead’ Before Endorsing Him

Former President Donald Trump criticized Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida Thursday in a statement posted on Truth Social, calling him an “average” governor who was “politically dead” and in “desperate shape” before Trump endorsed him in 2017.

“Ron came to me in desperate shape in 2017—he was politically dead, losing in a landslide to a very good Agriculture Commissioner, Adam Putnam, who was loaded up with cash and great poll numbers. Ron had low approval, bad polls, and no money, but he said that if I would Endorse him, he could win,” Trump said in the statement. DeSantis defeated Adam Putman, the Republican Agriculture Commissioner, in the 2018 Republican primary for governor by 20%, according to Ballotpedia.

And you could be very very very right. Not one to quit, he might be forcing persons into making their decision with another outcome. He is doing this for an important reason. The fact he's willing to gamble away all his winnings indicates this is important to him. Whether working separately or working together, the two men are certainly playing at something.

Wouldn't a better than average Republican incumbent governor in a Republican state --- running essentially unopposed --- win reelection by 50 points?

Actually, a political Pac associated with Cruz cut an ad that used old nudes of Melania and suggested she was a prostitute. Trump retaliated and that was the beginning of the end of the Trump/\Cruz friendship. Trump never attacked Ted’s whole family, but made disparaging remarks about his wife. As usual, someone else attacked Trump, but the only thing the media ever focused on was Trump’s reaction.

Same thing when Trump called McCain a loser. No one mentions that McCain called Trump and his supporters loons the day before.
