Former President Donald Trump criticized Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida Thursday in a statement posted on Truth Social, calling him an “average” governor who was “politically dead” and in “desperate shape” before Trump endorsed him in 2017.
“Ron came to me in desperate shape in 2017—he was politically dead, losing in a landslide to a very good Agriculture Commissioner, Adam Putnam, who was loaded up with cash and great poll numbers. Ron had low approval, bad polls, and no money, but he said that if I would Endorse him, he could win,” Trump said in the statement. DeSantis defeated Adam Putman, the Republican Agriculture Commissioner, in the 2018 Republican primary for governor by 20%, according to Ballotpedia.

No - I suspect DeSantis wants no part of a dumpster fire in progress and is giving it a lot of room to burn itself out. He has nothing to gain in getting involved in Trump’s laundry list of complaints.

I have always supported Trump, but he is acting like a child. He is also breaking Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment . . . but then, I suppose that is nothing new for Trump.
Where’s “not this again facepalm” man when you really need his input?
I can’t say that I see much logic in all this, consider for example that de Santis hasn’t even said anything about running for president in 2024, when 2028 looks a lot more sensible given that he just got himself a job.
It could just be that Trump figures he should keep the name Trump in the news cycle and the actual reason for that doesn’t matter in the long run. Who is going to remember much of this in 2024?
I tend to be a rather linear thinker so this probably wouldn’t actually work, but if Trump, de Santis, Cruz and a few other patriotic figures were to meet in a show of unity and common purpose, it might be a lot better for the brand (MAGA) than this petty-seeming criticism. The nation, what’s left of it, deserves nothing less. This is sort of like if George Washington spread nasty stories about Thomas Jefferson and the other founding fathers around the streets of Philadelphia in 1787. Maybe he did and it all got lost in the deep well of history. But our image of these great men was that they were — great — and that’s what America needs now too.
So in other words, you’re fully bought in to a cult of personality. Kool-aid anyone?
