Distillate levels in the United States have plummeted to the lowest levels since 2008..
Low distillate inventories have sent diesel prices soaring.
...
The primary distillates are diesel, jet fuel ,and heating oil). However, in 2008 distillate levels were low coming out of spring. Currently, they are low going into fall. That’s far worse than the situation in 2008.
Distillate demand generally spikes in spring — when farmers are planting crops — and in fall, when they are harvesting those crops and people start buying fuel oil for winter. Thus, a low distillate inventory in late April 2008 isn’t quite as serious as a low inventory in October 2022. In fact, distillate inventories haven’t been this low in October since the EIA began reporting this data in 1982.

Third, U.S. refinery capacity has fallen in the past few years as several unprofitable refineries were closed. So, that’s a new factor that has appeared in the past couple of years.
But the primary reason is the cutoff of Russian imports. Prior to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the U.S. was importing nearly 700,000 barrels per day (BPD) of petroleum and petroleum products.

Yes, a good lesson. Unfortunately they haven’t learned anything from the lessons so far, and won’t likely learn anything from the fuel shortage lesson.
Incopmetnance/fraud in government is what I see as a cause.
Four reasons? Hardly needed at all. The real reasons:
1. Democrats
+1
Pedo Joe
Pedo Joe
Pedo Joe
Pedo Joe
Joe did that.
Even with that embarrassing debacle of him shutting down US production and going begging around the world, the election was still within the margin of fraud in most states.
The opposition party fails to make much headway in the House running against the least popular president in generations? That just screams “fraud.”
" The two largest rail unions, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen and the Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation union, which represents conductors,
are holding their own ratification votes, the results of which are due November 21.
If one or both of those unions reject the deals, they would be prepared to strike December 9."
"If one or both of those contracts are voted down, the BMWED said it is ready to further push its strike date back to December 9."
H/T to Sacajaweau
Biden doesn’t like drilling.
Biden doesn’t like fracking.
Biden doesn’t like pipelines.
Biden imposed sanctions on Russia.
—
Biden doesn’t like financing fossil fuels in any regard.
No new US refinery since 1977 is the primary reason for the diesel crunch - the rest is just one excuse or another, with the exception of Biden/Klain/0bama war on fossil fuels.
GOOD WRAP.
Reason for diesel is shortage Joe Biden.
I am not a Union Guy. In fact I hate unions. Mostly because my dad was forced to be a Teamster when he was an owner operator semi truck driver.
All that being said, I do not blame the union railroad workers for striking. The management of the six major North American railroads have done a terrible job running their railroads in the last three years. They cut staff to a minimum to increase profitability. To the point that they literally did not have enough people/crews to run the trains.
Their service was terrible for three years. Again, pushing companies in the lumber industry to rely more on trucks than rail shipments.
Their employees are overworked. Their sick leave system is complete BS.
So, IMHO I do not blame them for striking.
The bureaucrats keep adding regulations…the drillers are not ramping up….there only going to use profits to add rigs…most are just sending money to shareholders…
They’d rather freeze to death than vote R to save their asses.
Peel the onion one more layer and you find nothing but ballot / election fraud and stolen elections.
It is not incompetence at all. It is intentional.
The truth exposes indeed
Hmmmm. Four reasons:
Biden
Harris
Buttigieg
Granholm
