A major Georgia county is scrambling to dispatch hundreds and hundreds of absentee ballots just three days before the 2022 midterm elections, the result of what one official said was clerical error in the county elections office.

What makes you think Cobb County officials are incompetent? They know what they’re doing. By mailing a person who is a registered Republican an absentee ballot will prevent that person from voting on Tuesday.

Yes. I know. But it shines light on the subject. Even such “pretend incompetence” should not be allowed. They have one job. If they can’t handle it without errors such as this, they shouldn’t have the job. Also, there should be checks and balances to keep such a thing from happening. Have these people never heard of pop-up calendar reminders?
