None of this is true.
Conscription for 1 year is mandatory in Russia, for many years now. After 1 year they return to civilian life, though are still in the Reserves. There are exceptions to conscription. Not many but some.
This is consistent with many countries. Switzerland in particular comes to mind.
The 300K call up is of reservists. It is a partial mobilization of reservists, who exist in numbers much larger than 300K. This is not new draftees.
Conscription troops are not allowed, by Russian law, to leave Russian territory. This is the entire reason for 300K reserves call up. There need be no casualties for this to happen. It happens because they obey their own law. How is this shocking? Adding the new territories allow for conscripts to fulfill duties, largely administrative, in the logistics areas of the Donbas.
This frees contract troops (note terminology, pretty much all US enlisted troops are contract troops) for other duties, none of which involve a great deal of hand to hand combat, as noted above.
If your flow of thought derives from casualty numbers you need to redirect flow, because the casualty numbers are based on nothing from the Ukraine side. They don’t have the effectiveness models. They couldn’t have them.
You can learn all this by listening to the various speeches. It’s laid out very clearly. You don’t need a newspaper for this. Why use a reporter to listen to a speech for you.
Except, in fact, that prizyvniki have been killed and captured in Ukraine.
Russia admits conscripts have been fighting in Ukraine, despite Putin’s previous denials
Russian mum breaks down in tears after conscript son is captured in Ukraine
So much gets passed off as propaganda and misunderstandings
that it virtually means that Russia has no problems over
there at all. At some point you guys have to knock it off.
Russia is in full retreat in some regions. Why is that if
it isn’t having any problems?
Don’t you guys get tired of being called on this nonsense?
