Back in the Civil War (1st one for the USA) The Company Commander led in front of his company. The Company First SGT led from behind. [TO MAKE SURE THE PVTs KEPT MOVING FORWARD!]

None of this is true.

Conscription for 1 year is mandatory in Russia, for many years now. After 1 year they return to civilian life, though are still in the Reserves. There are exceptions to conscription. Not many but some.

This is consistent with many countries. Switzerland in particular comes to mind.

The 300K call up is of reservists. It is a partial mobilization of reservists, who exist in numbers much larger than 300K. This is not new draftees.

Conscription troops are not allowed, by Russian law, to leave Russian territory. This is the entire reason for 300K reserves call up. There need be no casualties for this to happen. It happens because they obey their own law. How is this shocking? Adding the new territories allow for conscripts to fulfill duties, largely administrative, in the logistics areas of the Donbas.

This frees contract troops (note terminology, pretty much all US enlisted troops are contract troops) for other duties, none of which involve a great deal of hand to hand combat, as noted above.

If your flow of thought derives from casualty numbers you need to redirect flow, because the casualty numbers are based on nothing from the Ukraine side. They don’t have the effectiveness models. They couldn’t have them.

You can learn all this by listening to the various speeches. It’s laid out very clearly. You don’t need a newspaper for this. Why use a reporter to listen to a speech for you.

I live in the real world also and have not yet met an anti-America/NATO-pro-Putin person.

In my vet’s coffee group everyone seems to support the United States and NATO and wants Russia to be defeated and to end their invasion.

Conscription troops are not allowed, by Russian law, to leave Russian territory.

Except, in fact, that prizyvniki have been killed and captured in Ukraine.

Russia admits conscripts have been fighting in Ukraine, despite Putin’s previous denials

Those were clearly administrative errors. Dated March. And how exactly is this relevant to Artillery Effectiveness Models?

In my blue collar factory wokers group everyone seems to support the United States and have more important things to worry about than another European war. This INCLUDES several veterans. Of course, they fought ragheads in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Ruskies were grandpa’s enemy.

Interesting put down of vets, be sure and share that with the more than 100,000 active soldiers that are in Europe as part of our defensive alliance against Russia.

Perhaps you can turn them, tell them to point their guns at us and away from Russia.

Especially those in V Corps since Trump reactivated it and moved it far forward, to Poland, to better face the Russians.

Those young 101st guys manning the V Corps headquarters and in Romania may turn against America for you if you give them your pro-Russia arguments.

Update on Russian military operations in and around Ukraine for November 5, 2022

- US assistance to Ukraine increasingly depends on "refurbishing" antiquated weapons kept in storage as current inventories of weapons run low;
- Russian tanks continue to roll out of factories while those in storage are also being upgraded and deployed;
- British state media admits Ukraine faces difficulties in taking Kherson city;
- Russian forces continue preparing for protracted combat while Ukraine races against the clock in terms of energy, economics, and material support for combat operations

“I hope they form up into a massive anti-Putin force, drive all the way to Moscow, find Putin, and leave him hanging from a lamppost. It’s time for his ass to be grass.”

So much gets passed off as propaganda and misunderstandings
that it virtually means that Russia has no problems over
there at all. At some point you guys have to knock it off.

Russia is in full retreat in some regions. Why is that if
it isn’t having any problems?

Don’t you guys get tired of being called on this nonsense?

Thank-you for your response. I always wondered why the Democrats tried to connect everything they didn’t like with Putin/Russia— Pro-life movement, 2nd ammendment supporters, America-first supporters, Trump supporters etc.

There are apparently a significant group of conservative boomers who are still fighting the cold war. When they hear “Russia”, they start foaming at the mouth.

They are the mirror image of the significant group of liberal boomers who are still fighting for civil rights. When they hear “racism, et al” they start foaming at the mouth.

Both the Soviet Union and the klan no longer exist!

The Communist-democrats sure have both the left and right of the baby-boomer generation figured out...

Not bitter. Perhaps childish, and naive, but not bitter. My circle of friends and coworkers are in the 18-65 age group. To us, Putin is as much a threat as Tojo, the Kaiser, Johnny Reb, or King George III.

Communist China, woke corporations, leftists schools/colleges, Soros, cancel culture, and the WEF are today’s threats.

If Biden and company were serious about crippling our foreign enemies and adversaries (including Putin), he would have used that 40 billion to Ukraine and built 20 chip fabricators and 20 nuclear power plants. He would finish the oil pipelines and unleash oil/gas/coal production. But he won’t, because he’s not interested in crippling our enemies.

This will end up as another ‘forever war’ sinkhole like the war on terror, war on drugs, war on poverty, war on illiteracy, etc.
