Nov 4 (Reuters) - Twitter has laid off 50% of its employees, the company's head of safety and integrity said on Friday in a tweet, while saying that the social media platform's content moderation capabilities remained in place.

The tweet by safety and integrity head Yoel Roth moved to reassure users and advertisers following the company's takeover by billionaire Elon Musk.

Content moderation like telling people how to vote and hiding truth? Maybe blocking conservative candidates and opinions? THAT type of moderation?

Should not be that.

There is, I’m sure, content that should not be allowed. I’m sure you know what I mean.

Not political speech though.

Hopefully Musk is just trying to stem the revenue loss from advertisers long enough to offset it with the blue check fee income, and these moderators will get back to moderating illegal speech only.

If a barber shop fires half of its best haircutters, those haircutters can join up and start a new barbershop down the street and their clients will follow them. If a great chef is fired with half of his kitchen staff, he can go to a different restaurant and business will follow him.

If there was a market for the old twitter business model, with all of the woke fixings and trimmings, this would be the opportunity to stand up a new company and make billions of dollars doing it. Strangely, without admitting it, these whiny “woe is me” public paeans to their old job become an admission to the world that their old jobs maybe weren’t as useful for business as they pretended they were.

I signed up for twitter last week and deleted my account the other day. I signed up because of Musk, but when I read a tweet that he was going to keep the moderation team of left woke groups to fact check and moderate speech on the platform, I figured I wasn’t going to waste my time on a platform only to see my account get canned because some woke leftard got its panties in a knot over what I said.

So I deleted my account.

Is was great until I realize “meet the new boss, same as the old bass” was a true statement.

Roth said 15% of Twitter’s employees on the trust and safety team, which is responsible for preventing the spread of misinformation and harmful content, were laid off. Company-wide, the layoffs affected 50% of

It takes some time to implement change. This is a start. I wonder what the criteria was for the 15%?

Twitter was a jobs program for woke leftists, most of that staff did nothing of real value other then fill in check marks on the “diversity” card in HR.

I could easily go into to twitter and ask the most basic computer networking question “what is a MAC address” and probably end up firing 80% of their staff for failing to answer that question. And probably some “engineers” and “network security experts” as well.

If Musk would have ignored the outside forces and built twitter into what he visioned, advertisers, users, etc would follow and understand what he was trying to accomplish. But if all he is going to do is pacifier woke cry babies all day, I have no interest in his platform and I hope he fails.

To paraphrase Barack Hussein Obama, the ex Twitter employees have been “liberated” from their jobs.

Reuters is basing their claim on the tweet of someone who doesn't actually know?

How about they do this thing called journalism and actually contact those doing the laying off to find out the number?

Why does anyone here have a problem with Musk continuing to have content moderation?

This platform does the same... because it is necessary.

Reassuring me on content moderation fails to reassure me. It does the opposite.

Negotiating on how much censorship to let the left impose is not good.

Have you seen his tweet on who he's put on his content moderation panel? A bunch of leftwing groups and the a Bush associated group. Not going to get a fair and balanced policy out of them.

That sort of person is Rooters standard "Unimpeachable Source" for all their Urinalism.

I posted this from Rooters because their journalism free narrative is obvious.

Elon can sure be thankful he's not lacking in how many appologists he has.
