Voters will have a say on abortion in 5 states with high-stakes ballot measures

Millions of voters will soon determine the fate of abortion access in a handful of states, including Michigan, which could become the first to make an abortion ban permanently unenforceable since the fall of Roe v. Wade.

At the polls Tuesday, voters in California, Michigan and Vermont will decide whether to enshrine reproductive freedom rights in their state constitutions, while voters in Kentucky could do the opposite and explicitly conclude there should be no such protections.

In Montana, if a ballot initiative passes, health care providers in the state could face criminal charges if they do not take “reasonable actions” to save an infant who is born alive, including after an attempted abortion.

The measure and its proposed punishments, including up to 20 years behind bars and a maximum $50,000 fine, have been met with fierce opposition from medical providers.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists said such a “cruel” law would mandate aggressive treatments in extremely complex situations, which could “prolong suffering and deny families the choice to offer comfort or spiritual care.”

The referendums come more than four months after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the landmark ruling that had guaranteed a constitutional right to abortion.

In reversing the half-century precedent, the court left the power to limit or grant abortion rights to the states. That triggered one ballot measure on abortion in Kansas in the summer, and five more this fall. That is the highest number of abortion-related ballot propositions in a single year, according to the bipartisan National Conference of State Legislatures.

This is yet another example of the media pushing the idea abortion is going to save their party on Tuesday.

In Massachusetts a filthy bull dyke Maoist will be elected Governor on Tuesday...and it won’t even be close. And there’s a ballot question to raise the state income tax *and* to give wetbacks drivers’ licenses. They’ll both pass easily.

Why? There’s plenty of evidence that is a stupid idea.

One party ruled Washington State gave out drivers licenses like it was Fentanyl last decade and consequently starting soon, if you want to fly out of this state you must show a passport or an Enhanced Washington State Drivers License that costs more and you must PROVE who you are before the State issues the license. Brilliant, no?

IIRC there's a Federal law which requires states to issue what is called a "Real ID". I got one last year.To get one you must bring proof of US citizenship (birth certificate, passport, etc) and two things to prove your address (phone bill, gas bill, etc).

When it's issued it has a little symbol in the upper right. They say that without one you won't be able to board an aircraft or enter a Federal building.

The license they want to issue will just be used to get welfare, food stamps, free housing...and to vote.

But that can’t be right, the Supreme Court “made” a law that said they can’t . . .

“In Montana, if a ballot initiative passes, health care providers in the state could face criminal charges if they do not take “reasonable actions” to save an infant who is born alive, including after an attempted abortion.”

If this does not pass does it mean a provider would face no criminal charges if a disabled or premature or even a healthy infant was denied care and died as a result?

The statement by the ACOG makes me realize these days you are in better hands putting your trust in doctors who are not members of certain accreditation organizations.

Abortions were added to Nevada revised statutes about 30 years ago as a ballot question up to 24 weeks (longer under some circumstance) but the ads here make some believe Lombardo and Laxalt will somehow simply outlaw them or put women in jail for getting one. Three more days of lies. 😵
