A Platteville (Colorado, September 16) police officer whose cruiser with a handcuffed suspect in the back seat was struck by an oncoming train said that he didn't know the woman was inside.
That's according to newly released body worn camera video.
"I didn't know she was in my car," the officer told investigators on scene immediately after the horrifying accident.

You PUT her in there !
So it’s OK to leave a car on the train tracks as long as there’s no one in it?
And the award for “Stupidest cop in America” goes to…. This guy.
no one of the other officers on scene put her in the car
I ready where this guy had a reputation for being not very smart...”incompetent” was also a term that was used. Of course he’s a protected class so nothing was done to remove him.
Semaphore exception?
The officer didn’t know that the woman he arrested and put in his car was in the car which, unbeknownst to the officer, was parked on railroad tracks. The officer deserves 3 stripes for making Sergeant Schultz look competent.
A mishap?! Dropping a sandwich on the floor is a mishap. Parking a cop car on a train track, locking a handcuffed suspect in the car, then claiming minutes latter you “forget” she was in the car is not a “mishap”, it’s minimally reckless endangerment.

I read yesterday that the Weld County District Attorney plans to charge Rios-Gonzalez with one count of felony menacing over the incident that led to her detention.
I did not see that post. Sorry.
It’s not the same story. It is just a related story.
Why would a person that the body cam was streaming through just stand there keeping completely still less than a hundred feet from a car/train crash and not even flinch?

If you are a Policeman it is.
So it’s ok to leave your child in a hot car if you forget.
Nice to know.
Methinks this officer probably sexually harassed the woman, and forgot her in the squad car on purpose.
This “officer by all accounts, is and has been a problem.

Some people are just Retarded.
This guy needs a “R” tattooed on his forehead to warn those around him.

The cops involved all need to be fired. And sued. This woman victim was not a hardened criminal, she was involved in a road rage incident. I think she is lucky to be alive, but will suffer pain from her injuries. The cops got off easy, and should be fired at the very least for negligence.
