Pfizer is testing a new vaccine that inoculates against Covid and flu amid sluggish uptake of both shots.
The first patient was given the two-in-one vaccine this week as clinical trials got underway. In total 180 patients will be recruited for the study.
Pfizer's new shot targets the Omicron variant and its offshoots as well as four strains of influenza.
Rival vaccine-maker Moderna is also testing a vaccine targeting Covid and flu, as well a triple-shot that also immunizes against RSV.
None are expected to be ready for this year's flu season, which is already the worst in over a decade piling pressure on hospitals.
Uptake of the updated bivalent booster vaccine is lagging in the US, with just a handful of Americans who are eligible coming forward.

Speaking as an older gentleman, among my peer group, talk of combining the shots is what killed off the flu shot.

I totally agree. Pfizer was talking of doing this months ago and that raised the alarm bell in those who pay attention.

This just insures I’ll never get another flu shot.
This years flu season “already the WORST in over a decade.” The arrogance of the pharmaceutical industry is only surpassed by the ignorance of the people that believe this drivel and allow such items to be introduced to their bloodstream.
The vaccine producers made billions on Covid but they have completely obliterated their reputations. The most significant damage being done by the dangerous and now worthless clot shots is that people will refuse to take even tested and worthwhile vaccines in the future. This will result in another source of excess mortality in the future while polio, measles and other contagious pathogens make a resurgence.
Designed to double the number of deaths from “unknown causes,” and double the number of excess deaths among those under 65.
The life insurance companies, already hemorrhaging cash from the increased mortality rates among their youngest, healthiest, and most lucrative customers, are going to love this.
Who didn’t see this coming? I know people who, even though they have gotten flu vaccines in the past, are saying they will not get one this year, just for fear of this very thing.
Being told it’s a flu vaccine, but finding out afterwards, it is the Covid vax instead. Now, they are just combining the two. No thanks!.

Exactly what I was thinking. Folks should tell their heal5hcare providers that if they are going to force folks to get covid vaccine along with flu shots, then they are done getting flu shots!
