Oprah Winfrey turns her back on Dr Oz and endorses Democrat John Fetterman in Pennsylvania Senate race despite 20 years on set with the television doctor

Oprah Winfrey on Thursday night turned on the TV doctor she propelled to stardom - saying she would vote for Dr Mehmet Oz's rival John Fetterman in their battle to be elected to the Senate.

Oz, a Turkish-American surgeon, and Fetterman, the current lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania, are neck-and-neck ahead of next week's election.

Winfrey turned Oz into a household name when she appeared on his show in 2003, and invited him onto hers in 2004. He would go on to make more than 60 appearances on her hugely influential daytime show.

Yet on Thursday, the 68-year-old media mogul said she could not support her former guest.

'At the beginning of the midterm campaigns, I said it was up to citizens to vote for who would represent them,' said Winfrey, addressing a virtual voting town hall.

'If I lived in Pennsylvania, I would have already cast my vote for John Fetterman. 'There are clear choices and some dynamic candidates who are working to represent the values that so many of us hold dear—like inclusion, compassion and community.

'So, I ask that voters use discernment and choose wisely for the democracy of our country.'

Fetterman was overjoyed at the news, tweeting in response a heart emoji and saying: 'WELCOME TO #TEAMFETTERMAN, @Oprah!!'

Winfrey's support of Democrats is not a surprise, but her disavowal of Oz will have stung.

The pair first met almost 20 years ago, in 2003, when Oz and his wife Lisa created a medical series called Second Opinion with Dr Oz for the Discovery Channel.

She wasn't going to endorse Oz anyway. Her loyalties lie with the Commies.

It's too bad she had to go public and slap her old friend in the face.

Et tu, Opre?

I’m guessing that Obama or Mooch leaned into her and said, “Listen, a fair number of women are voting Oz because they know him from your show. You’ve got to disavow him.” And this is what we’re seeing and why we’re seeing it so late in the game.

I fully expect the Dems to steal this seat for Fetterman.

That’s okay. Oz doesn’t need her that much anymore. He has his own fan base.
Oprah probably contacted Oz directly, letting him know she couldn’t possibly support any Republican, not even him, without losing her core group.

Whose going to watch the Oxygen cable programs if she “breaks cover” and reaches across the aisle? Plantation Democrats as a rule, never reach across the aisle except as a form of irony.

Winfrey doesn’t live in PA. How can she vote for anyone in the state?

[Oprah screwed up]

It’s what she does. Like Gayle King, the issue is never the issue.

The issue is the revolution.

Isn’t she tied with Hillary for label of “smartest woman in the world?”

The Support for Fetterman (and for that matter, support for Biden) absolutely defies all logic. At this, with what we know about both of them, support for them is a direct support the destruction of the moral and financial fabric of the United States.

I guess the Democrat message that voting for a Republican, any Republican, is a threat to democracy. It’s a lie, they know it’s a lie and yet they still perpetuate the lie . . .

Oprah must also like the idea of chasing down a black jogger and threatening him with a shotgun because if he was running, he must have committed a crime.
