Yesterday, November 2, 2022, as a result of Ruscist’s shelling, the last two high-voltage communication lines of the Zaporizhzhia NPP with the Ukrainian power system were damaged.
This was reported by "Energoatom".
"At 11:04 p.m., the station went into full blackout mode. All 20 diesel generators were turned on.
Currently, the power supply scheme for ZNPP's own needs is optimized, 9 diesel generators are left in operation. Power units 5 and 6 are transferred to a cold state.
Fuel for the operation of diesel generators in the mode of complete blackout of the ZNPP remains for 15 days. The countdown has begun," the message reads.
It is noted that due to the occupation of the plant and the interference of Rosatom representatives in its work, the possibilities of the Ukrainian side to maintain the ZNPP in a safe mode are significantly limited.
"Once again, we appeal to the international community to urgently take measures for the demilitarization of the ZNPP as soon as possible, the withdrawal of all Russian military personnel from the territory of the plant and the city of Enerhodar, and the return of the Zaporizhzhia NPP under the full control of Ukraine for the sake of the safety of the whole world!" - added in "Energoatom".
Lying Uke retards. The Russians have shelled themselves for months now. And the solution is to give the plant over to the Kiev regime?
Sure… lol
What does this mean in english?
I know nuclear plants need power to maintain cooling (that’s why they have pumps and cooling towers) during normal operation, and that’s why they need backup power (like these diesel generators), but isn’t their a fail-safe or neutral state that they can be put in for the long term without the need to cool fuel rods?
The claim is that Russians are shelling close to a nuclear power plant, which is a dangerously bad idea.
“the withdrawal of all Russian military personnel from the territory of the plant and the city of Enerhodar”
The demand seems to imply the Russians hold the plant and are in the city the plant is nearby.

🖍🇷🇺🇺🇦 Reflection of aggression on the Zaporozhye NPP is our art in support of the special military operation
In recent days, the intensity of shelling of the Zaporizhzhya NPP and Energodar has decreased, thanks to the counter-battery fight of the artillery units of the RF Armed Forces and the systematic destruction of targets in Nikopol and Marganets on the northern shore of the Kakhovka reservoir.
Yes, complete security has not yet been ensured: for this it is necessary to take control of the northern coast. But work has already begun on integrating Zaporizhzhya NPP and Energodar into the Russian legal field.
🔻Immediately after the historic decision to annex the Zaporozhye region to Russia, Energodar detained the Director General of ZNPP Igor Murashov. Rosatom decided to accelerate the integration of nuclear power plants into the Russian power grid and dispatching system.
The management of the station will change, which must be completely loyal to Russia, including the general director, his deputies and shop managers.
▪️Ukrainian media disseminate information that Murashov’s detention threatens radiation safety. This is complete nonsense: the director is primarily in charge of legal and financial issues, and the chief engineer is responsible for the technical nuances. Yes, and Murashov’s competence has always been a subject of doubt.
▪️Now the power units of the station are shut down, there is no need for technical solutions. Routine legal work is ahead to transfer the station under the full control of Rosatom. A decision was made to create a new legal entity for ZNPP. All employees will need to obtain Russian SNILS.
🔻The inhabitants of Energodar received, first of all, certainty and confidence in the future. This will finally stop the spreading of rumors about the possible surrender of the city back under the control of Ukraine.
Many residents, including nuclear power plant employees, left the city. However, as the region integrates into Russia and normal life is established, some of them will return.
The claim is bogus and the media has been running this Kiev propo for months, when the Ukrainians started shelling and using drone attacks on the ZNPP…the Ukes control the territory across the reservoir from the plant.
Russia occupied this facility in March and it has continued to operate with Ukrainian and Russian staff and Russian security.
The IAEA visited during summer to assess damage …and wrote a report blaming no one for the shelling, which occurred even while they were onsite, protected by Russia. An IAEA rep remains onsite and the IAEA monitors the status of the facility.
The Ukes are targeting the power lines that enable the plant to cool the fuel rods, apparently to cause a humanitarian disaster, The plant has scaled back operations, now disconnected the crippled facility from the Ukrainian national grid, but still able to maintain cooling and supply limited power to the nearby city of Energodar…also a target of constant Ukrainian shelling.
These plants are 1) old, and 2) of Russian design. So...no they cannot be put into a "fail-safe" state without access to external power. The article says that the diesel generator backups only have fuel for 15 days. So the Russkies have to 1) provide more diesel for the generator or 2) get external power lines to the station working again.
Whether Chernobyl II is in the cards is anybody's guess.
“IT’S DONE”
These are not graphite moderated reactors, so no Chernobyl 2.
I suspected as much, but was not certain. Fukushima II OTOH, is NOT ruled out....
Yes the Ukrainians want to permanently irradiate Ukraine and knock out its power infrastructure. That makes total sense. The Kremlin needs to hire better trolls imho.
They still need to cool the spent fuel pools.
Fukushima’s issue was the loss of power to cool the pool.
Because it was the first GE design the building over the pool was essentially a pole building. It didn’t have the structural strength to resist the aftermath.
Designs after that housed the spent fuel pool in a much stronger building. That’s why TMI didn’t turn into a Fukushima.
No, the Russians want to contaminate an entire region of people now considered part of Russia ( referendum vote) along with tens of thousands of their own troops. Oh and have the wind blow it eastward, too.
That’s why they have an IAEA rep onsite.
Derp.

When the fuel runs out for the generators needed for pumps to circulate cooling water for the hot nuclear fuel rods, it may become another Fukushima.
thanks for posting an honest response to this propaganda.
You lie, the Biden regime and Ukrainians all lie like your father, the devil.
God will curse the land of neo-Nazism and tyranny as he is cursing the Biden regime and Western leaders that pushed for this war.
