A school in Australia has allowed one of its students to be non-verbal in class and behave like a cat, as per her wishes.
The unnamed teenage girl, who is in Year 8, is reportedly allowed to act like a feline and be non-verbal at the private school in Melbourne, as long as it does not become a distraction to the other classmates.
According to the Herald Sun, the school, which has called the girl "phenomenally bright," has stated that some of their students have displayed a range of identity and mental health issues.
“Our approach is always unique to the student and we will take into account professional advice and the wellbeing of the student,” the school's statement read, adding that they consult with professional advice as well as listen to the well-being of their students.
An insider close to the girl’s family also told Herald Sun that there is no specific protocol for students who identify as animals.
"No one seems to have a protocol for students identifying as animals, but the approach has been that if it doesn't disrupt the school, everyone is being supportive."

Feed her only cat food, and only allow her to use a litter box in corner of the class room in full view of everybody

It’s got to that point where we need to start doing so, wake up their stupid butts up for once and for all.
The kid should be in a mental institution.
I think post 11 is on to something. https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4105762/posts?page=11#11
MSN has gone off the rails again.

Mine identifies as a king.
Pretty much the same thing. 😏
Whose to say, they were ever on the rails, to begin with? 🤪🤗😂
She should announce that she identifies as her owner and bring a package of cat treats and feed them to her then complain to the principal when she refuses to eat them.
Or she should just tell her “Off! You know you aren’t allowed on the bus seats! Bad cat! You stay on the floor!”

Well to be honest, in a sane world, there wouldn’t need to be such a protocol. However, if one needs to be made, I suggest it should be, asap. Otherwise, we shall have dogs and cats mingling together in school buildings and chaos will reign.
Who the he!! in a school, or any other environment would put up with such nonsense? Find out what the problem is with this child and get some help for the poor soul! I suspect there are serious problems with her home-life and she is being abused in some manner. This “identify as whatever you wish and we will just accommodate you” nonsense has to stop!
(I was hoping this was some type of satire, but I’m afraid I might be disappointed).
And the inmates are running the asylum!
You’re never broke if you still have checks in the checkbook - Liberal economics.
I wonder what they do when she starts coughing up hair balls.
Hair balls, nothing, wait until using the litter box!
Of course if nobody claims the cat or adopts the cat within 3 weeks or so, they might have to put her down per policy.
And taking craps in the drawers of the teacher’s desk.
Drag her down to the vet and get her spayed. At least something positive would come of the insanity.
I want you to be a Dinosuar...
If the rest of the class is behind, and being taught at the level of the lowest, she might actually be the smartest in the class.
