This is about the cash register tape at the grocery store. It’s finally sinking in that butter shouldn’t cost 6.50-7 dollars.

Virtue signalling is most attractive when it is perceived to have no personal cost.
The successful Republican strategy would be to show Dem-leaning women the real personal costs, to them, of supporting Democrats.
It’s now time when suburbanites with oil heat traditionally make sure their tanks are full for the winter.
They are getting sticker shock, and it may affect their votes, even in Massachusetts.
Good point and reminder: virtue signaling infers no actual personal investment/cost in time or resources, thus making the gesture hollow
