I have lived in MA for most of 62 years. This is the first time I can recall the state government actually doing something right.

I am sure Maura Healy will grab it back as soon as she is installed at the first Lesbo-Gov.

With the Feddies shoveling out free money as fast as they can print it, the high tax blues states have so much money they are starting the free money routine also. Good way to pick up lots of votes.

I live in PA, but if I lived in Mass, and was getting some sort of refund, I’d save it for heating oil.

IOW, give it back just before the election, and take it back along with more next year?

For now, low-income households who do not pay income taxes would not get any refund under the tax cap law — neither would households who owe $0 once other credits, like the earned income tax credit and dependent care credit, are factored in, Wright pointed out.

Equity issues surrounding Chapter 62F are a “legitimate gripe,” House Ways and Means Chairman Aaron Michlewitz told reporters last week.

It’s just unreal. If you don’t pay a dime in net income tax, how can you possibly be entitled to a “refund” in any amount? A fair flat rate times your income tax paid is a rudimentary mathematical calculation. Any percentage times zero is zero. I’m sure all the people who feel slighted at missing out on a check from the government can’t perform that math or see the fairness.

The COVID funny money is in the coffers until 2024 states can pass it around before elections to buy votes this year.

Republican governors like Kemp in Georgia and Brad Little in Idaho handing out inflation causing COVID money from Washington DC to bribe voters before the election as well.
