This will make no difference.

The people that were going to vote for him knew damn well that he didn’t have a snowballs chance in hell. So their vote was just a protest vote.
So since he’s still on the ballot, they’ll still vote for him in protest, even if he dropped out.

The Libertarian PARTY, however, has been captured by people who want to split the conservative vote so the Democrats win.

If these libertarians are anything like me, whenever McCain, who I could not stand, was running, as a Republican, I always voted for the libertarian. Could never see myself voting for a Democrat, so the libertarian was a handy safety valve. If it was a real tight race where a Dem might actually win, then I held nose and voted for the red devil, McCain. I am hoping that a lot of that libertarian vote is of the same mindset.
