SCmcrdparris2

Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island (often abbreviated as MCRD PI) is an 8,095-acre military installation located within Port Royal, South Carolina, approximately 5 miles south of Beaufort, the community that is typically associated with the installation.

MCRD Parris Island is used for United States Marine Corps Recruit Training of enlisted United States Marines. Recruits living east of the Mississippi River report there to receive initial training. Recruits living west of the Mississippi River receive training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California, but may train at MCRD Parris Island by special request.

The Marines train about 17,000 recruits at Parris Island each year. Recruit training for those enlisted in the United States Marine Corps includes a thirteen-week process during which the recruit becomes cut off from the civilian world and must adapt to a Marine Corps lifestyle.

SCmcrdparris5

During training, the drill instructors train recruits in a wide variety of subjects including weapons training, Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, personal hygiene and cleanliness, close order drill, and Marine Corps history. The training emphasizes physical fitness and combat effectiveness. Recruits must attain a minimum standard of fitness to graduate. This standard includes a Physical Fitness Test and a Combat Fitness Test.

Recruits must also meet minimum combat-oriented swimming qualifications, qualify in rifle marksmanship with the M16A4 service rifle, pass minimum curriculum standards, and complete a 54-hour simulated combat exercise known as "The Crucible".

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))

Were you and Gizmo able to head out to the lake yesterday for some fun in the sun or did it take longer than expected to get your brakes dealt with?

They have marked trails and people along the trails ready to jump out to spook you. You’d only get lost if you left the trails. Then you’d just have to follow the screams of others to get back on the trail. :-)

Actually Radu, everything did go as planned. As it turned out, we not only needed new brake pads but also brake rotors. It took about 3 and a half to 4 hours but the pickup is more safer with the new pads and rotors.

Also, it was discovered we needed new sway bars for the pickup.I'm going to check later this morning to see if they arrived. This is what a Sway bar is.

But, we did get to go to Comanche Lake yesterday and here are the pics.

Glad you were able to make it to the lake. It certainly was a beautiful day and Gizmo obviously had a great time.

Bummer they found more things wrong with the truck but mechanics are good at that. LOL

Well, it sounds easy. But it also sounds like fun. For the younger me, that is. The “now” me would rather curl up with the internet than go frolicking through the woods. LOL! I’ve become a sissy.

It IS easy, and fun. It’s been years since I went through a haunted woods. It’s more fun when you have someone along but Hubby won’t do it. I just sit out Halloween nowadays.
