Advertisers don’t sell to kids. They sell to that “aging demographic” you describe.

The advertisers are fleeing because they’ve finally figured out that Facebook’s statistics about its users are a total fraud.

I am almost 60. I just signed up for FB a few years ago. What I use it primarily for is the groups on the platform.
FB Marketplace has replaced Craigslist for buying and selling local “stuff”. This is because you can pull up the profile of the person you are potentially doing business with. This eliminates most of the scammers, etc.
I also use it for local town pages.

I have personally sold six pickup truck loads of firewood by posting it on my local FB town page in the last couple weeks. I am advertising to people who live within 5 or 6 miles of my house.

I also am a member of a Harman Pellet stove group on FB. Anytime I have ever had an issue there is someone who has an answer/suggested remedy within an hour or less.

Many small businesses now have FB pages instead of maintaining a website. There are people who make a living just on side hussell jobs they get off of FB.

Lastly, almost all the people I have sold the firewood are MIDDLE AGED WOMEN(5 out of 6). I sell it for CASH. However, I have had two of them ask me if I take VENMO.
