House Democrats retract Russia letter penned 3 months ago after signers running for re-election object

A group of 30 left-wing legislators on Tuesday withdrew a letter sent the day before to the White House calling for President Biden to negotiate directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end his war on Ukraine — after several signatories running for re-election objected to its release nearly four months after it was written.

“The Congressional Progressive Caucus hereby withdraws its recent letter to the White House regarding Ukraine,” the group’s chairwoman, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), wrote in a statement Tuesday that blamed unnamed staff for the letter’s belated release.

“The letter was drafted several months ago, but unfortunately was released by staff without vetting,” Jayapal said. “As chair of the caucus, I accept responsibility for this.”

Jayapal’s announcement came after public complaints by several lawmakers who had signed onto the letter but said they would not have done so at this point in the war.

So when more billions get shoveled over there, and their constituents are cold, hungry, and out of work, those constituents can go pay a personal visit.

In other words, when things go further south, those 30 and others OWN it.

“Jayapal is a complete trash bin. She makes my skin crawl.”

In a just world, it would be excruciatingly painful to simultaneously be so stupid, evil, and horrifically ugly

The media masters have sold the public such a bill of goods that peace is now a four letter word. Judging from the duped neocons around here changing Hillary’s Russia, Russia, Russia to Biden’s Russia, Russia, Russia was a master stroke for the globalists.

Agree. She is a terrible human being.

I love how some signatories changed their mind after the war machine probably gave them a call during and election.

A sane party would be able to have differing opinions on this rather than just call someone a Putin stooge for wanting peace.

Yeah, let’s continue to borrow billions to send to Ukraine while our own country goes to sh*t. Time to negotiate an end to this disastrous war that could escalate into a direct confrontation with Russia. We have no treaty obligations to defend Ukraine.

The GOP would be well-advised to distance itself from Biden’s war. We have already entered into a new Cold War, which has resulted in a global political realignment. We will look back at our disproportionate reaction as a colossal mistake.

The GOP labels those who disagree with our involvement in Ukraine as Putin supporters and traitors. The Uniparty brooks no opposition to its policies.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/defense-national-security/progressives-withdraw-ukraine-letter

...”The timing of the letter comes about a week after House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said that if his party takes control of Congress, there would be no more “blank checks” to Ukraine. He was surprised the comment gained headlines and said in a subsequent interview, “Wouldn’t you want a check and balance in Congress? Wouldn’t you want these hardworking taxpayers’ money, someone overseeing it? We’ve got to eliminate wasteful spending in Washington.””
