A convicted killer in Oklahoma was executed Thursday despite his lawyers arguing he was mentally ill and unaware of his imminent death.
Benjamin Cole, 57, was pronounced dead at 10:22 a.m. local time at Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester, attorney Tom Hird told The Post.
Cole was sentenced to death in 2004 for the Dec. 20, 2002, murder of his 9-month-old daughter. CNN reported after the baby’s cries interrupted Cole’s video game, he broke her spine.

I recall reading that a death sentence costs the state more than life in prison.
Well, not the sentence itself, but the years and years of legal fees that are paid by the state as it goes through the court system on appeals over and over and over again.
I get that seeing a killer lose his life (an eye for an eye) is satisfying justice, but I personally would find a bland prison life (23 hours in your cell, 1 hour outside by yourself) and some basic food a worse sentence than death. No tv’s or anything. I guess give the person a Bible to read.

That doesn’t change the facts that he murdered a baby and is a danger to society and needed to be eliminated to protect everyone else.

I am not in favor of the death penalty for many cases where there is doubt, but these days with DNA testing and video surveillance, there is often no doubt at all about guilt. When you have footage of someone committing the crime, they need to be dealt with appropriately.

If they were not allowed endless court appeals, then it’s not more expensive.

I don’t care how dumb or crazy you are when you kill. And these days it seems the crazies kill more than one. More like 3-4 at a clip. These mental defectives should be put at the head of the line in death row.
I always get a kick when reading what inmates eat for their last meal before execution. Banana pudding, fried chicken, steak, ice cream are common.
