Car thieves probably hold the conclusion that Commandment no. 8 about stealing does not apply to them. In other news, all Ten Commandments apply to every human person in history.

That’s a lot of cars for such a small city. Guess neighboring towns are sharing their criminals?

“It has always been about adding a visible deterrent that makes the thieves choose someone else’s car.”

Similar to alarm system yard signs. Yes, alarm systems can be defeated and, yes, there is a gray market for these signs but most crooks are looking for the (expected) path of least resistance.

a rusty old Renault Le Car

While it is not near as theft proof as a Renault, a Citroen or a Trabant, my old minivan gets left alone.

My kids don't want the minivan, thieves don't want a minivan ...

I don’t think that the Hyundai/Kia viral tik-tok video craze has hit my area yet. But we have a 2018 Hyundai so I put in TWO hidden ignition switches AND the “club”. I guess the club can be defeated, but hoping the kids will just move on when they see it.

There was a video posted yesterday from a nearby neighborhood of two guys (during the day) stealing the roof off of a Miata! The owner had even added torx bolts to make it more difficult to steal!

Looks to me like most of the Club lock have a very basic wafer core. Could probably jiggle it open in under a minute.

And just about 1-2 miles north of Ferguson, Missouri, the place of the martyrdom of Saint Fentanyl.

The police should be using older Kia and Hyundai bait cars.

The camera footage could be used for a show about criminals.

They laughs would be tremendous.

Torx are everywhere these days. They give you the torx bits in the box when you buy a box of torx screws at the hardware store.

Thieves are so brazen. Decades ago I lost stuff to thieves. Someone stole engine parts from my 56 Chevy in the daytime right in view of the local grocery store. I asked the store clerk what he saw, and he replied that he thought I was working on the car. Another time I jumped in about to drive away, but not only no stick shift, but no transmission either. I had only left the car about 20 minutes ago. The driveshaft and bolts were neatly lined up against the curb. Had to buy another Muncie 4-spd tranny. Victim of car thieves multiple times on multiple vehicles.

I haven't had trouble in the last few decades. The secret is to own cars that no one wants.

No, Ferguson is the scene of the beatification of St. Michael Brown, of “hands up, don’t shoot”.

They probably also thought that WWII came before WWI.

Seriously, ask them next time when was the War of 1812. You’ll get bewildered looks in response.
