ISTANBUL (Reuters) – Social media companies are unlikely to fully abide by Turkey’s new law requiring them to remove “disinformation” content and share user data with authorities, analysts say, raising the spectre of possible platform disruptions before elections next year.
Facebook, Twitter, Google and others are required to fully comply with the law by next April or face possible advertising bans and eventually cuts to their bandwidth, posing a dilemma for the companies before elections set for June.
Analysts and consultants said the companies have global privacy standards they are unlikely to breach in Turkey as that could set dangerous precedents for other countries looking to exert control on social platforms.

The Turks got some nerve.
Erdogan, the self made dictator of Turkey, is one of the most dangerous people in the world. He has taken the only relatively free Islamic country in the world and ruined it.
Save the headline for the US on 11/8.
I don’t disagree, however I will Point Out that, historically, Turkey it’s self has been one of the most dangerous nations to the concepts of the US Constitution and Christians that has existed, whereas Ergodan is just a temporary Turk.
You’re getting the idea, this is not about Turkey.
My understanding is that Facebook, Twitter and Google currently abide by communist China’s restricted speech/communication/lack-of-privacy dictates. Why would they balk at another country demanding the same deal?
It appears you are correct in that statement.
Why would they balk at another country demanding the same deal?
Because that country is less powerful and influential in America and American Law than the Communist Chinese.
Facebook, Twitter and Google execs think they are more powerful than Ergodan, but KNOW what ANY Communist Chinese "President" would do to them.
