WASHINGTON, October 22. /TASS/. The US Army's 101st Airborne Division is ready to enter Ukraine in case of further tensions between Moscow and Kiev or an attack on a NATO member state, CBS News reported, citing the division’s command staff.
"We're ready to defend every inch of NATO soil," the division's Deputy Commander Brigadier General John Lubas said, as cited by the media outlet. Commander of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team Colonel Edwin Matthaidess, in turn, noted that his troops, deployed to Romania, have been "closely watching" the Russian forces, "building objectives to practice against" and conducting drills that "replicate exactly what's going on" in the war.
"In all, about 4,700 soldiers from the 101st Airborne's home base in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, have been deployed to reinforce NATO's eastern flank," CBS News noted.
"The commanders told CBS News repeatedly that they are always ‘ready to fight tonight,’ and while they're there to defend NATO territory, if the fighting escalates or there's any attack on NATO, they're fully prepared to cross the border into Ukraine," the media outlet added.

Amazing how you seem make light of the situation given a possible result of the morons in charge
I just love this place on Saturdays, when all the old soldiers chime in, along with the armchair generals.
It is quite entertaining.
Why aren’t they out on the golf course? Too cold today??
Biden also promised that he would stop touching little girls inappropriately.
The disturbing part to me is being at this fail safe point. How many different actors involved in this fiasco would welcome an attack on NATO, on NATO soil to bring on WWIII? How many of the aforementioned warmongering actors are not above using a false flag operation to accomplish that goal? The whole damn thing could blow at any minute. In your opinion would an exchange between Russia and the US result in massive EMP damage to every home in America? That potential aspect makes trying to plan for an aftermath impossible.
Yes Sir! And, if the Democrats have their way, our daughters and grand-daughters would be DRAFTED and, no doubt, some of the daughters would end up in foxholes and blown to bits just so “feminists” can feel good about themselves.
Lol, a Biden “promise” is about as good as a letter opener in a gunfight.

I have a perfect 17 year old grandson. I checked just what it would take to draft him. According to Selective Service the only thing that still needs to happen is for our miserable warmongering congress, by a simple majority, to pass an act authorizing it. A miserable warmongering congress that has voted overwhelmingly to fund this incredibly dangerous fiasco. I would shoot that grandson in the foot myself before I’d see him marched off as globalist cannon fodder.

Not at all.
I make light of the drama queens around FR lately. They are a fine mix between communist Russia lovers and paranoid Q nuts. I imagine there is some overlap.
FR used to be a place with intelligent, funny, and curious conservatives. Lately it’s a mess full of cultists.
Because that’s not going to happen.
All of your hand wringing isn’t going to make it so. You need to go take a walk around the mall with all the other old folks.
Thanks for the promotion, but Captain is as far as I got. I had a couple of short stints as a Battery XO, but I was kicked up to Battalion HQ, shortly after our ARTEP (tac eval).
I knew I was never going to make it to Major, so I resigned my commission after 18 months as a Battery Commander...it was time.
Based on my experience (Air Defense Artillery), the alphabet set wants no part of combat units, they'll be in the support units that rarely leave garrison.
No problem and sorry for my mistake. In the Infantry/Airborne we didn’t have XOs in lower than Battalion and they were usually Majors. But that was 52 years ago and my memory might be off.
Beautiful day today in North Texas, I'm off to my grandson's baseball game.
This would be a great thread, if it weren't for the personal attacks on both sides.
This thing's going to grind to a halt shortly, thanks to General Winter. Trouble is, the good General is going to exacerbate the humanitarian crisis there.
Nobody has defeated General Winter yet.
I agree with you. No way should good, patriotic young men be forced to go into the to be “used and abused” to protect and further the agenda of the New World Order military of today.
Says the all knowing VermontLt. One of the few funny, intelligent curious Conservatives left on FR.
Biden and the rest won’t entangle the US in anything unnecessary. The same folks that couldn’t have messed up the Afghan withdrawal any worse. The same crew that is destroying this country
Am I worried about nukes? Not a bit.
Am I worried that they’ll do something stupid and put troops in Ukraine? Yes.
I was a casualty of the ADA motto, "we eat our young." lol
During that ARTEP I mentioned, I overrode the BC on the second day of the 3 day evaluation. He was catatonic after a disastrous day, which included him encoding coordinates for one platoon's mission, and he was never challenged.
When I got back to the CP, our First Sergeant was sitting on a tree stump, muttering "it's over"...this from a man who had 3 tours in Nam as an Infantry First Sergeant. After that, I put an end to the bull, and started issuing orders to right the ship.
That evening, I lit into the 4 platoon leaders for their lack of leadership. I knew their jobs better than they did, as I'd taken 3 platoons through their evaluations, more than they had combined. I laid out, step by step, what each of their soldiers would do the next day. That was the deal with ARTEPs, you pass as long as you're showing improvement.
As I stormed out of the CP, I almost bumped into the Chief Evaluator...lol, I thought, "I'm screwed, he heard everything." Instead, he said with a big grin, "that was beautiful, LT". We passed, barely, and was rewarded with the worst OER of my career. It rolled off my back like water, my Trump card was that I had no intentions of making it a career.
Funny thing was, the Group Commander made his remarks, stating basically that the Battery Commander and Battalion Commander were full of ... He liked to visit his outlying batteries on Friday afternoons, and I got a lot of face time with him, as I was usually the only officer on site.
IMO, Edith made Hillary look like a Girl Scout.
Good stuff.
I feel sorry for the good NCO’s who are “short” and good officers who must stay in longer and have to put up with the Woke crap and all the other BS.
“There is the precedent of the 1864 election.”
It was held on November 8, 1864.
