In a phone call with Ukraine's president this month, US President Joe Biden pledged continued solidarity with Ukraine as it battles Russia's military invasion and illegal annexation of Ukrainian territory.
But that level of support could be in jeopardy if the GOP gains control of the House of Representatives in this year's midterm elections.
The warning signs have been building for months.
In April, 10 House Republicans voted against a bill allowing the Biden administration to more easily lend military equipment to Ukraine. The following month, 57 House Republicans voted "no" on a nearly $40 billion aid package for Ukraine. Both measures ultimately passed the chamber.

I want to see Trump crusade against the warmongering Uniparty (R) DC hacks who have been pumping tens of billions into this quagmire they’ve created.
Yeah, its best to allow the Ukraine people to be murdered by the Russians than to spend one more penny to support freedom.
Freedom - its time has come and gone for the GOP, who now is planning to support tyranny and murder in this land where trillions spend by the current government is OK, but not a few billions to support freedom.
“Trump is digging a hole faster than he can climb out of.
He is still thought of as a rUssian agent.”
Wrong board, Vindman.
Amen to that.
“After 9/11 we learned you cannot ignore the world.”
And the first State Department Talking Point is up already. We’ll see the ret shortly, along with the paid shills.
Mr. World Policeman, as soon as the Ukes take over they will once again begin to persecute and murder the Russian ethnic minority. This happens every time Donbas has changed hands in the last 120 years (perhaps 20 times). Will you then mobilize to stop this injustice by backing the Russians who are also trying to stop documented Uke oppression of the Russian minority? Mr. World Policeman, what about the Kurds you deserted, the women of Afghanistan, etc.? You are a lousy and corrupt world policeman.
Oh, they’re here.
Maybe we should be protecting our border not Ukraine’s.
The Left was going to frame Trump as a “friend of Putin” if he said anything short of that “Russia should be nuked.”
“We are throwing money down a rat-hole while this war continues. There’s no benefit to us for this.”
Absolutely, 100% true. This is a giant money laundering operation, into and out of Ukraine, into the defense contractors’ pockets. And US politicians and families and friends.
All borrowed, all from newly created cash from the Fed, fuelling more inflation here, and thus worldwide.
It’s also causing energy shortages, and food shortages. Both of which have only started, and they will be absolutely catastrophic very shortly. Natural gas and fuel oil are going through the roof.
People need to memorize now who backed this takeover of our foreign policy, and remember to blame them, loudly and often, when a can of corn goes for $4 here, and gas goes up even higher. And people freeze all over Europe, and right here.
It’s coming.
P.s. Hey FR: What does it take to ban the shills here ringing the bell for war???
“Repubs playing with serious fire if they continue down the path they had/have been doing concerning Ukraine, especially as things continue to economically deteriorate here at home.”
Yup. Here in Volusia County, some of us have already marked Mike Waltz for primary in 2 years. He’s one of the biggest cheerleaders for this war, and NATO expansion. Happens to be my guy, too. We’re going to remove him, come hell or high water.
Attention Mike Waltz: Enjoy your last 2 years of elected office.
ENOUGH of this nonsense war!!!
That’s straight gospel out of Old Testament 2016 MAGA.
“Republicans will not abandon freedom, especially with Russia being so badly damaged.”
And another State Department Talking Point makes it onto the thread. Many more to follow, as the paid shills jump in. And on.
“Avoiding foreign entanglements does not mean being isolationist and not caring about the world at large but being prudent (which we haven’t been) and cautious and I would argue that sentement/statement by George Washington was the first MAG(A)/America First type statement by The Greatest American of ALL TIME bar none.”
Wow, a New State Department Talking Pont makes its way onto the thread by another paid shill. Even though it’s both a run on sentence and non-sequiter.
Have to add that to the list, and just post the whole litany early on these Yay Ukraine shill threads to get it out of the way.
“Business Insider has become infested with leftists.”
And FR.
“Maybe the correct lesson of 911 was to not allow entry to our nation of peoples from countries that hate us.”
Yup. Be it a nation or branches of a certain religion.
We’d have no Patriot Act. How nice would that be?
Good.
I have no use for Putin, he is no friend of the United States.
Ukraine’s resistance and will to fight is understandable when you consider the history of Russia’s abuse towards them (The Holodomor, for example)
But we have no reason to be involved. This is not and never would become our problem, regardless of the outcome or if that outcome was just or unjust. It simply is not our place to get in the middle of it.
Of course we all know the reason we ARE involved is because Ukraine, under Zelenski is Biden’s money laundry and piggy bank.
We should wish Ukraine well and leave it at that.
Did Reagan 'avoid foreign entanglements'? I am against nation building but avoiding foreign entanglements means you can end up isolated, in a world dominated by an enemy like China.
During Washington’s time vast ocean protected the US. After 9/11 we learned you cannot ignore the world.

The United States made Al Qaeda strong to fight the Russians.
In your example, Washington was right.
HITLER DIED in the Reichstag bunker in 1945, I doubt if very many people actually support a DEAD GUY.
