Fun fact: The Spanish Civil War was kicked off when an opposition leader was killed in police custody. Within 24 hours of the discovery of his body, Franco had mobilized the Army of North Africa and called in Luftwaffe transports on loan from Germany to transport them into Spain.
Good point - but not relevant in this situation.
But we have no Franco.
Not even close.
Very few people in the US (or even Spain, thanks to the Socialists) know anything about the things that finally set off Franco’s decision to fight back.
One of the other things was voter suppression (of the conservative rural population) and vote manipulation by the radical left in Northern Spain, which unfortunately was not challenged by the conservative parties (even though everybody knew it was a fraud). This enabled the radical left to throw out both the moderate left and of course the conservative parties ...and the rest is history.
Sound familiar?
Yes it is sad that Americans and Canadians chose to fight on behalf of the COMM intern.
