Ukraine war: Zelensky accuses Russia of plot to blow up dam
BBC ^ | October 21, 2022 | Paul Kirby

Posted on 10/21/2022 3:21:48 AM PDT by McGruff

In his overnight address he said the Kakhovka dam on the Dnieper river had been mined by Russian forces, according to Ukrainian information.

The dam is under Russian occupation, but Ukrainian forces are closing in.

Russia has already accused Ukraine of firing missiles at the Kakhovka dam.

The dam also provides Russia with one of the few remaining routes across the Dnieper river in the partially occupied Kherson region. Russian-installed authorities in Kherson say four people were killed by Ukrainian Himars rockets that hit another key crossing, the Antonivskiy Bridge, on Friday.

The same BBC that accused Russia of shelling themselves in a nuclear power plant they controlled or the same BBC that accused Russia of blowing up their own heavily invested in gas pipelines?

Yeah, okie dokie.

If Zelensky said it, it is probably a lie.

“ If Zelensky said it, it is probably a lie.”
***************************************

If Zelensky said it, it likely means Ukraine will attempt to blow it up and blame the Russians.

Russia lies about everything

Russia will probably blow it up in a fit of spite if they’re forced to retreat

and then blame Ukraine

So the logical thing to do would be for the Russians to blow it up. Just like that pipeline.

Why does Zelensky seem to have so much power? The guy is a dictator of one of the most corrupt countries in the world.

Russians already on to your Canuckistan thought process...

“Zelensky announces bombing of Kakhovskaya HPP dam and flooding of Kherson region: Kiev starts preparing info-field, blaming Russia (video at link)

“We have information that Russian terrorists have mined the dam and units of the Kakhovskaya HPP. This is one of the major energy facilities. The dam of this hydropower plant holds about 18m cu.m. of water. If Russian terrorists blow up this dam, about 80 settlements will be flooded, including Kherson.

We are witnessing a standard move - to accuse the enemy in advance and then write off their crime on it.”

Anyone who believes this is too stupid to be allowed to participate in the human race. Russia made clear days ago that they would do whatever was necessary to protect the lives of civilians and their military personnel, even if that includes a retreat as they have done on a limited bases in the recent past. Ukraine, on the other hand, has been using civilians as human shields and thrown their personnel into the wood-chipper needlessly. By any honest account, 100s of Ukrainian personnel are thrown in front of the Russians everyday without a clue what they are up against.

Russia has effectively explained how it’ll work as follows: Ukraine will float explosives merrily merrily merrily down the river (btw this is the same river that Uke special forces couldn’t even cross at Enerhodar without being seen and destroyed), those explosives will hit the dam, and boom like Dambusters.

Alongside other fantastically convoluted “Ukrainian false flag” scenarios -

1. Ukraine has smuggled a nuke into occupied Melitopol through an entire countryside of Russian forces without being spotted. And they’ll walk it back to Kherson for a false flag. Again without getting noticed
But Russia knows they have a dirty bomb. Hmm.

2. Ukraine sponsored a loaded truck full of explosives in a big multi week yomp in a 270 degree anticlockwise circle, through multiple Russian checkpoints, even getting x-rayed before arriving on the nearly deserted bridge and going boom just as a prominent judge linked to investigations against prominent war hawks happened to be overtaking. What a stroke of luck!

What gets me is there seems to be literally no level of incredulity no matter how fantastical the Russian output gets, the vatnik flag shaggers will still say it’s more convincing than, Russia wouldn’t talk incessantly about the benefits of destroying all power, water and telecoms infrastructure in Ukraine, using chemical/biological/nuclear tactical weapons, driving more millions into Europe, annex regions that they don’t even occupy yet let alone could hold long term, etc etc, if they weren’t completely deranged.

If Kherson city is cleared of RF forces, unaccompanied minors, visiting Russian settlers, gauleiters and compliant civilians, what’s left is a city full of enemy combatants and refuseniks.

One spectacular dam burst could take ‘em all out, or at least stop them at the river.

THAT is plausible. The Russian counter-narrative isn’t plausible.

you’ve already said numerous times, and gleefully, how Russia is now determined to destroy all Ukrainian infrastructure, right?

well that dam is part of the infrastructure

so Russia - by your own words - is determined to destroy it if it falls back into Ukrainian hands, right?

“most likely suspect”, duh

Don’t forget, the pro Russians keep telling us that Russia doesn’t want the whole country, only the southern Oblasts and all the coast.

Taking the dam out would reinforce the natural geological border between inland Ukraine and the coast, would it not?

Russia wants to disconnect the Zaporizhzhia NPP from Ukraine completely and connect to Russia’s. It can’t do that with the HEP at the dam. So the dam is, to Russia, expendable.

Just the way they’re all pre-preparing the narrative to already blame Ukraine suggests that this is *exactly* what Russia will do

and it’s not like Russia never lied to us before ...

“the Moskva wasn’t hit by a missile, it just caught fire while being towed”

“the ammo dump in Crimea blew up because of a careless smoker, not from a direct Ukrainian hit”

etc. etc.
