Gauntlet thrown: House GOP's conservative wing warns status quo not an option in next Congress

House Freedom Caucus drafts memo to future new lawmakers urging them to hold out for radical change in the way the House operates because Congress "is worse than you thought."

In a pointed message to leaders and lawmakers alike, the conservative wing of House Republicans is circulating a draft guide to new lawmakers urging them to hold out for radical change in the way Congress operates if the GOP wins control in the midterm elections.

"Republicans ran to fix Washington," reads the memo from the House Freedom Caucus obtained by Just the News. "We cannot continue to govern in the same way that broke it."

"Some of the most important votes come before you're even sworn into office. Will you be ready?" the draft memo asks, warning new members that veteran lawmakers will likely try to schmooze them into complacency, starting with the orientation, votes for leadership and House rules in mid-November.

"The simple truth is that it perfectly suits some if you are unprepared or unaware of their significance," the memo warns of the first votes in the caucus set to happen in mid-November if the GOP prevails. "Some will urge you to be a 'team player' by falling in line with leadership and doing what you're told.

Sounds like they are going to make the same mistake after Donald Trump was elected and grind the House to a stand still; HFC = losers.

Good. There are going to be tons of Beltway RINOs hovering around. I see it already: idiotic inflationary spending bills will now be pushed, but because it funds “GOP donors” that this is somehow ok. It is not.

Which is another way of saying mccarthy and company will cause the country to fail, thus continuing away from status quo.

“Talk to me on Nov. 9.”

As another article on FR that was just posted, the Rats are already stating that we will not know the results of the election for a week or more until after election day.

So the fix, as they say, is in and I doubt there will be much change in the makeup of the House and Senate.

The problem is a new majority isn’t going to do it. All the Democrats and half the Republicans are in on the scam.

Capn, there are two groups of people who do not want any changes and will do everything in their power to make sure that there is no changes. The two groups are: The Republican Party and the Democrat Party. The Republican Party is completely with the Democrat Party being the dominant Party [ The Party that runs things] and them [Republicans] being the whipping boys of the Democrats and feasting off the scraps and crumbs thrown to them by the Democrats. And the Democrats are happy to be the Party in charge and run things.

Re: "status quo not an option in next Congress"

Yeah, that's what Newt Gingrich said in 1994.

Then, after a dozen Ethics investigations, two criminal investigations, zero support from the Republican leadership, and a relentless MSM assault, Newt changed his mind.

We can only hope. But it does not inspire confidence in that this is the same group that joined on to Paul RYNO becoming speaker.

Any group in The House that’s larger than a squad, should have more clout within their party and within The House than a squad.

The conservative caucus is not wrong but don’t look for change with Kevin McCarthy as Speaker.

hold out for radical change in the way Congress operates if the GOP wins control in the midterm elections.

Agree, I'm old enough to have witnessed this charade called government long enough as power goes back and forth and the GOP never accomplishes a damn thing.

Chip Roy (R-TX) would make a great replacement. McCarthy has to go. Too weak!

Re: "Liz Truss enjoyed none of these factors which permitted tax cuts to be granted without generating deficits and inflation when spending was permitted to sail on. The bond market said, we won't accept your risk, we think there is a sovereign debt crisis, we are selling your bonds and we are selling your pound sterling."

I strongly disagree with your analysis.

While the UK Pound was allegedly crashing against the US Dollar, the Euro was also crashing to a 20 year low against the USD, the Yen was also crashing to a 30 year low, and the US Dollar was soaring to a 20 year high against a basket of those three currencies.

The bond market did not sell UK debt because they feared a debt crisis.

Since the alleged crisis started, the interest rate on the UK 10 Year Sovereign has been consistently LOWER than the interest rate on the US Treasury 10 Year.

Until a couple days ago, the interest rate on the US Treasury 10 Year was BELOW 4%.

In other words, the people who were BUYING the UK Sovereign Debt that was allegedly going to default because of a minuscule tax cut, were willing to risk their money for a 3% interest rate for 10 years!

Sorry, that is ridiculous.

In my opinion, the entire UK debt crisis was manufactured by the Hard Left financial press - specifically, Reuters, Bloomberg, The Economist, and CNBC.

The Hard Left financial press had a single minded mission - destroy the Conservative UK government and replace it with a Labor government.

So far, the politically corrupt financial press is succeeding brilliantly.

Hate to say this, but a Republican congress represents very little threat to the democrat way of government. Yes, it will be nice to get the Ds out of the majority, but when republicans pass a multi-thousand page “omnibus” bill that contains funding for the new IRS army, and they tell us they had to do it to keep the government going, well, let’s face it, many of us are expecting it.

The following Axios story, albeit not a certified conservative publication, nevertheless echoes conventional analysis and refrains from any left-wing analysis as it makes clear that the story of Liz Trust's debacle was market-driven and not the result of some wide-ranging but conveniently unspecified conspiracy:

How hidden financial risks brought down Liz Truss

Truss, in my opinion, was sacrificed for the f*ckery of the Bank of England.

She didn’t see it coming either, which is perhaps her fault.
