On Tuesday morning, a Fox News contributor claimed on Twitter that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was set to mandate that schoolchildren get coronavirus vaccines. By Tuesday evening, the claim was being repeated by the nation's most popular cable news show, and had been amplified to millions more on social media online.
"The CDC is about to add the Covid vaccine to the childhood immunization schedule, which would make the vax mandatory for kids to attend school," host Tucker Carlson tweeted, sharing a segment from his show that has been viewed more than 1.5 million times online.
But the claim was wrong: The CDC cannot mandate that schoolchildren receive vaccines, a decision left up to states and jurisdictions, the agency and multiple public health officials said. The initial tweet by Nicole Saphier, a radiologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, also misconstrued a planned meeting of CDC advisers, who voted Wednesday to add coronavirus vaccines to the federal Vaccines for Children program, a safety-net program that offers the shots at no cost. A separate meeting set for Thursday would address the agency's immunization schedule for children.

The CDC sounds like my teenager, always trying to get by on the technicalities. They know CDC list is used as a requirement in many school systems.
What is the difference between a Conspiracy Theory and a Spoiler Alert?
15 Months
Exactly.
This is another “fact check” designed to hide the facts.
If we want to get technical, it ain’t a vaccine either.
This allows Nazi governors cover to mandate it.
I wonder which one will be first?
I am guessing one of the ones who still holds onto ‘emergency powers’
The truth of the matter is that the vote to give it to children removes the liability for the manufacturers.
.
What if a State or municipality, or School system follows the CDC recommendations as a rule?
Like some schools follow the Closing or adverse weather schedule of a large well known School system.
It’s quite evident that the author did not watch all of Tucker’s piece on this and his follow-up with the CDC itself and documentation from states’ use of the CDC’s “schedule” embedded in state laws.
Which means that anyone harmed, adult or child, cannot sue the manufacturers.
There are about thirteen states that totally conform to the CDC schedule.
Funny they did not mention that.
This would be so sweet if the states would drop their vaccine mandates for schools altogether to punish the CDC for their hair splitting ruling. In essence the CDC is stating that we are not forcing schools to force vaccination knowing full well that states follow their list religiously.
I will never get another vaccination knowing how political this organization is. They are fully in the back pocket of big Pharma.
I thought the law gives manufacturers of all vaccines total liability?
Drives me crazy when news stories editorialize with phrases like “false claim” or “debunked” etc. Worse when it’s in the headline.
But as you implied, it isn’t news at all.
And it’s false. Many state codes require following the CDC guidelines - and they know it. And lie anyway.
This vote was to protect Big Pharma.
No! It’s up to the states to mandate or not mandate them for school attendance. What may be an issue is that it could be required in order to apply for permanent alien residency.
No, I don’t think so. They will not be liable once they have this rule on the books. And now it’s on the books.
Exactly. Schools will say we require all CDC directed vaccines.
Reminds me of the Pope.
He wants some liberal policy but does not want to take the heat for it. Instead he appoints a board to look at the issue. He appoints all libs to the board and then when the board makes a decision he claims” i did not make the decision, the board/people did”
O please.
But the states will follow CDC regulations under “follow the science”
