January 6 Committee Can’t Issue Trump’s Subpoena Because It Can’t Identify Trump’s Lawyer
Breitbart ^ | 10/20/2022 | JOEL B. POLLAK

The U.S. House committee investigating the January 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol made a big show of voting to subpoena former President Donald Trump last week — but it has not actually issued the subpoena, because it cannot actually identify Trump’s attorney.

ABC News reported Wednesday:

The Jan. 6 committee investigating the attack on the U.S. Capitol has yet to formally subpoena former President Donald Trump, in part because investigators are still trying to find someone authorized to accept service of it, sources familiar with the matter tell ABC News.

[M]ultiple lawyers representing Trump have told committee investigators they aren’t permitted to formally accept service of the subpoena on behalf of Trump, sources familiar with the deliberations say.

As Breitbart News noted, the committee voted unanimously to subpoena Trump, after failing — despite weeks of hearings, months of closed-door depositions, and testimony from over 1,000 witnesses — to produce any evidence linking him directly to the Capitol riot.

Absolutely hilarious! Well, keep looking for a couple more weeks...if you don’t find whom to serve by then, it won’t matter.

Nice logic loop. I do machine motion programming.

Subpoena Trump's attorney for Trump to appear as the input bit. Next bit is the IP Address for the lawyer to latch that output. Each failed request returns the bit to the subpoena input bit. Round and round she goes like Kid Shaleen in Cat Balou.

This article is absolute nonsense.

The subpoena can be served personally upon Trump. It can also be served upon someone over 18 and competent at his residence.

If the residence is guard gated, service can be effectuated upon the guard.

Servive can also take place by publication.

Or Melania for crying out loud.

I thought a subpoena, like certified mail, has to have someone to “sign” the receipt of it. If they can’t find someone who is willing to “sign” for the receipt, the subpoena is blocked.

I know people who were issued a jury summons who just forgot about the summons and didn’t report for jury duty. They didn’t get themselves into trouble. The bailiff told me that is one way to avoid jury duty.

There is no signature requirement for personal service. In fact, I've had many process servers drop serve where a individual refuses to touch the document and the subpoena is literally dropped in front of them.

As for jury duty, forgetting isn't an excuse unless you have memory issues like Biden.

They are using this as an excuse because they do not intend to subpeona him. The vote was for show.

Exactly. They know Trump testifying in person will only help him. They were hoping the hearings alone would have destroyed him, instead, he’s stronger than ever.
