Mayhem broke out at labour union organised protests in Paris against the cost of living crisis befalling the French public this week, with black bloc-clad rioters clashing with police and smashing windows.
An estimated 107,000 people took to the streets of France on Tuesday in protest against the growing economic crisis born out the energy crisis surrounding the war in Ukraine, and self-inflicted economic wounds such as years of lockdown restrictions which spurred rampant inflation, and failures by the government to perform maintenance on the country’s ageing nuclear power plants.

In 1848, the initial revolutions against the European governments were conducted by an informal alliance of the middle class and the far-left radicals. Later, the middle class joined hands with the governments against which they’d rebelled to put down the left radicals. Taxpayer militias were formed to fight the Reds.
I am too, but one will come sooner than later.

The common thread in all of these disasters - inept government.
To me the riots are an endemic part of French culture, beginning with the French revolution and never ending since then. By all accounts they solved nothing.
Hyperinflation is the result of reducing use of fossil fuels by deliberately constricting supply to drive up the price.
Only yesterday these same leftists were screaming about global warming and the need to reduce carbon emissions. I guess that was only if it is cost-free to themselves... They need to make up whatever they use for minds.
