Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy hints GOP won't impeach Biden cabinet officials - because Democrats used it against Trump for purely political purposes
Daily Mail ^ | 10/19/2022 | KATELYN CARALLE

Kevin McCarthy is not as eager as his GOP colleagues to immediately seek impeachment against Joe Biden's Cabinet members if they win back a majority in the November midterms.

Some Republicans are out for blood – seeking revenge by way of Biden and his team after Democrats politicized impeachment and sought it against Donald Trump two times during his four years in office.

The House GOP Leader, however, told Punchbowl News that Americans don't 'like impeachment used for political purposes at all,' and said 'the country wants to heal' and see a 'system that actually works.'

He also said that Republicans need to maintain their integrity by not turning around and engaging in the same politically-motivated actions that they railed against the opposing party for doing the last four years.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Attorney General Merrick Garland are the top two names that have been floated by some House Republicans as potential targets should the lower chamber turn red.

Some Republicans have even floated impeaching President Joe Biden, who turns 80 next month, by calling into question his physical and mental fitness to serve.

McCarthy, asked if anyone within the administration has engaged in conduct that would cause him to consider impeachment, said: 'I don't see it before me right now.'

'You watch what the Democrats did – they all came out and said they would impeach before Trump was ever sworn in,' the California Republican congressman said. 'There wasn't a purpose for it.'

Impeachment is now a farce. Why bother?

Biden screwing up every hour of every day does more damage to Democrats than impeachment that can not be followed by Senate conviction

Afterall, Biden can only get worse. He can’t get better

Do to them 100 times what they have done! Destroy them!

In case you haven't noticed, they didn't destroy us. We're still here, and about to kick their butts in the midterms in large part because they overreached.

Why give them that same gift?

“The country wants something we never get, government accountability.”

Say whatever you have to say right now, Kevin. Sleeping dogs should not be roused. But after November 8, there’ll be an inauguration. Whatever happens after the inauguration will happen with or without your help. So I hope you’re being real insincere about “the country wants to heal,” because you know damned well that a true healing will be impossible without justice.

Impeachments for political purposes are unacceptable.

Impeachment should be mandatory when cabinet officers defy the Constitution, defy the Law on significant matters, and/or use their positions for violating basic civil rights for partisan purposes while ignoring their real jobs.

Good news. Many of Biden’s cabinet members might resign after the November election, making this a moot point, or allowing sharper focus on the remaining malfeasors. Bad bes. That will give the replacements a grace period to harm the country before they commit impeachable offenses.
Hearings for replacement cabinet members need to be thorough, with an emphasis on policy rather than playing gotcha over trivia. Force candidates to give their top ten list of actions that would justify impeachment and removal of a cabinet officer.

"These people committed CRIMES!! Trump's people did NOT!"

They would be impeached for failing to carry out the duties for which they were appointed....NOT "pure politics".

A vote to impeach Garland in the House won't really do anything without 67 MAGA (not RINO) senators to convict and remove. I don't think there are enough RINO senate seats included in the 2022 elections to achieve that number. And look who is 2nd after Garland: Lisa Monaco.

Given the current makeup of the country, and the way Senate elections are split into groups each two years, there’s zero chance of having 67 votes to impeach a Democrat.

Doesn’t this wanker need to be elected by the Republican members of the House first? That may not be a sure thing this time

Remember, the party nominations for Speaker are held shortly after the election by the lame duck House. The election is held sometime in January after the new Congress is seated. Should the GOP win in Nov, a fight over Speaker within the Republican party in Jan. could result in a RAT as speaker. This possibility is why the nominee of the winning party is almost always elected to the post.

This is why McCarthy can never again by Speaker or even a Republican leader. He is simply a Dem enabler for the Uniparty. He must be deposed because he is a RINO. The 2020 Election was stolen. The House must hold hearings to either impeach the Bidet Regime or gather evidence to be used in court for a writ of quo warranto to remove them by that process. Doing both simultaneously has the best chance of success.
