Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy hints GOP won't impeach Biden cabinet officials - because Democrats used it against Trump for purely political purposes
Daily Mail ^ | 10/19/2022 | KATELYN CARALLE

Kevin McCarthy is not as eager as his GOP colleagues to immediately seek impeachment against Joe Biden's Cabinet members if they win back a majority in the November midterms.

Some Republicans are out for blood – seeking revenge by way of Biden and his team after Democrats politicized impeachment and sought it against Donald Trump two times during his four years in office.

The House GOP Leader, however, told Punchbowl News that Americans don't 'like impeachment used for political purposes at all,' and said 'the country wants to heal' and see a 'system that actually works.'

He also said that Republicans need to maintain their integrity by not turning around and engaging in the same politically-motivated actions that they railed against the opposing party for doing the last four years.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Attorney General Merrick Garland are the top two names that have been floated by some House Republicans as potential targets should the lower chamber turn red.

Some Republicans have even floated impeaching President Joe Biden, who turns 80 next month, by calling into question his physical and mental fitness to serve.

McCarthy, asked if anyone within the administration has engaged in conduct that would cause him to consider impeachment, said: 'I don't see it before me right now.'

'You watch what the Democrats did – they all came out and said they would impeach before Trump was ever sworn in,' the California Republican congressman said. 'There wasn't a purpose for it.'

Under your scenario the corruption will continue and get deeper and deeper.

Exactly what crimes would warrant an impeachment? Murder? Oh that's right! The dereliction of enforcing the border is causing tens of thousands of deaths. But that is not good enough for you.

What about the shabby withdrawal out of Afghanistan? Thirteen troopers were killed due to dereliction of duty not to mention handing over Afghanistan to the Taliban, the loss of human intelligence, $90+ billions in advanced weaponry and handing over valuable mining opportunities to China. But hey who needs accountability?

You know best, let the Biden Administration carry on! They are doing a great job!

“Perhaps you think this is fighting back? Fighting back and accomplishing nothing is not fighting back!”

Wrong! It is public exposure outside the filter Main Stream Media and Tech Suppressing Giants. Impeachment has a lot of unfiltered content. It will also force a lot of retirements and people to leave their current corrupt offices.

And it better to try than allow traitors to walk around with their noses in the air without shame like you want.

I actually agree with him in the fact that impeachment shouldn’t be used in a political tit-for-tat.

Impeachment should be measured, well- thought, and justified.

That being said, there’s some reason to impeach mayorkas. Investigations should be made into the justice department and garland. One the evidence is there, impeach.

But if the GOP goes through with a half-cocked impeachment, they will not receive the same treatment the democrats did for theirs.

“The next Congress needs to address these issues and not waste time on impeachment circuses.”

Yea and let the people that caused all this to go scot free. Traitors and the people that are destroying the country don’t need to be punish and never, never, ever expose their crimes.

If the Republicans win the election and majorities in the House and Senate, and fail to do anything but prevent the worst dreamed up by the Leftist cabal in the administration, then it will be a bloodbath…maybe literally…in America within two years.

They get one chance. Then it’s over, for them, for us, for whatever is left of the country at that point. Republicans have always looked out for #1…and as Frank Zappa once said, we aren’t #1, we aren’t even a #2 to them.

That’s a stupid reason not to impeach.

You obviously know few apolitical people! Most people are NOT consumed by politics like they are on this site. The “normal” public view will be “ More nonsense & they’re all alike Republicans & Democrats “!

The most probable thing that will happen is it will be ignored. Since the GOP is incompetent at PR, it also could backfire.

He hasn’t even become Speaker yet, and already he is pussying out. What a disgrace! Merrick Garland deserves impeachment, as does Mayorkas - they are purposely avoiding doing their duties, and on the case of Garland, he is heavily abusing his authority.

The Republicans need someone other than a wimp as Speaker. At least Pelosi doesn’t hesitate to fight for what she wants, I will give her credit for that (even as I despise what she fights for). Pelosi has bigger balls than McCarthy.

Oh, and can we get away from California controlling the Speakership? Time for a different POV, because there’s something in the water there that really screws up a lot if people’s minds.

While I hate these gutless GOP leaders, in reality, it won’t do any good because there won’t be 60 Senators to convict.

Even if the GOP had 60 senators, you can bet your ass that at least Romney would vote no on each count.

+++++++++++++++++++++++

Totally agree the malfeasance of Garland and Mayorkas (in that order) needs to see the light of day. If impeachment doesn’t result in conviction and removal, then so be it. Truth needs to be front and center.
Stripping these departments of cash flow, which congress can do, may be the only sword to hold over their heads.

Impeachment without possibility of removal is just meaningless theater.

Republicans have gone from the sad state of allowing themselves to be appeased by meaningless theater to the sadder state of now actually demanding the meaningless theater.

.
The Truth is the plan is to pass Joe Biden’s agenda - slower - now that they spent Trillions and obviously failed.

SLOW down and act publicly like they oppose Joe,

John Boehner and Eric Cantor, all over again.

I agree. I believe the majority of us want accountability. If we have to keep on top of them from now on.

The Swamp counts on Republicans participating in the Dem Corruption.

Just like Republicans lined up to support and call for more Investigations of Trump.

The Republicans has the House and Senate for the first 2 years of Trump, and they did nothing but Investigate Trump.

They wouldn’t even fund Trump’s Wall.

They couldn’t wait to work with Biden, spending every penny they could conjure up.

Let’s just let the Dems get away with stealing elections, open borders, coup attempts, corrupting the Intel Agencies, false impeachments, political imprisonment, completely corrupt DOJ, going after school moms, handing away money illegally, two-tier justice system, the list goes forever.

And how will impeachment and the subsequent 100% assurance of failure to convict in the Senate change any of that in the slightest?? All that may do is make you yahoos feel better - because you're feelings are what's really important, right? If you feel like you're getting revenge, then whether you actually do or not isn't important.

You guys think like mushy-headed, emotion-driven leftists half the time.

With ‘leaders’ like McCarthy, why even bother with leaders? Just lie down and submit to our globalist overlords. Get it over with. It was a nice Republic while it lasted.

The Democrats at least know how to fight. They slash and burn while McCarthy etc cower in the corner.

You actually need 67 Senators to convict and remove from office. Two-thirds.
The Framers set too high a bar?

McCarthy represents K Street lobbyists and not Main Street voters. They don’t want impeachment since it doesn’t make them money. So McCarthy is loath to do it.

“You guys think like mushy-headed, emotion-driven leftists half the time.”

And you cowards think like mushy, weak-knee spineless, turn the other cheek Republicans are a good thing. Again, exposure to the crimes will help prevent future crimes. Well-run impeachment hearing with or without senate approval will force resignations and expose crimes against the United States.

And if you don’t think massive exposure to these crimes will not drive results, you’re wrong. You likely one of those telling us to stop talking about election fraud too.

Guess what the only reason Republicans are going to win the house and senate is because there are a lot more election watchers and lawyers, laws changed, and even people watching drop boxes. This talk produced amazing results. This election might even be close to fair.

Exposure of political crimes will reduce these actions in the future. Hell with, get along to get along.
