No way could Americans afford an EV. As they now exist, they take too long to charge, the batteries are pieces of crap and we need to charge them at night, after work. One huge problem is we don’t have the energy infrastructure to deliver the electricity it will take for the millions in charging mode.

Used vehicles might be cheap. I wonder if the second owner gets stuck with the disposal fee.
