Bad Medicine: Doctor Granting Fetterman Clean Bill of Health Is a Campaign Donor

John Fetterman’s campaign is citing a political donor’s note as proof that the Senate hopeful has a clean bill of health.

In a letter released by Fetterman’s team, Dr. Clifford Chen said Fetterman has "significantly improved" following his stroke and "can work full duty in public office." The campaign released the letter—which it called a "medical report"—following calls from media outlets for the Pennsylvania Democrat’s health records.

Chen’s political leanings could raise questions about his medical assessment of Fetterman, whose race against Republican Mehmet Oz could determine which party controls the Senate. According to campaign finance records, Chen has given tens of thousands of dollars over the years to Democratic candidates and party committees. He contributed $1,330 to Fetterman’s campaign, including a $500 donation in June 2021, before he became Fetterman’s doctor. Chen donated to other Senate candidates running in close races this cycle, including Rep. Val Demings (D., Fla.) and Sen. Raphael Warnock (D., Ga.).

"This isn’t about politics," Fetterman campaign spokesman Joe Calvello told the Washington Free Beacon. "It’s an independent, detailed medical report written by John’s primary care doctor based on his latest office visit from last week."

Fetterman initially downplayed the severity of his stroke and has struggled to speak clearly and process sound during campaign events and interviews. Fetterman’s stroke was caused by a heart condition he was diagnosed with in 2017 but failed to disclose until after his health scare.

Maybe an independent analysis by a team of non-partisan expert medical doctors is in order, and then they can tell us how bad Biden is as well.

Strange time to switch primary care doctors.

It really doesn’t matter. The Democrat Party could run a janitor from their office building, and he would be elected.

With the exception of all those hundreds of psychologists questioning and criticizing Trump’s mental health, all of whom are now all of the sudden quite silent about Biden’s obvious cognitive decline.

This a ruse to get his wife, a staunch communist, in the senate. She’s young and healthy and the masses are ignorant of the plan.

Here is what I find very disturbing about this guy wanting to hold office. My hubs survived two strokes last year, the first had no impact, it was the second that rendered him incapable of walking or talking. He was very fortunate through therapy to gain movement back quicker than usual, he’s now able to drive and just this year went back to working part time. What has not come back fully is his speech, some fine motor skills, and the ability to comprehend certain things. With those drawbacks, he gets frustrated very easily which quickly escalates to tantrums, this is something he is working to get under control but we both know the stroke will have a lasting affect. From what I can tell, this guy in PA appears to have similar symptoms but he wants to be an elected official??? That in itself is an indication that he is NOT qualified nor capable enough to hold any office. And trying to make it an ADA issue is absolute bullsh*t. He should not be running for office, period. I do blame his wife for enabling this behavior. It’s ok to encourage positive improvement in such situations but she’s in denial of his diminished capabilities to push saddling him with such a mentally demanding political position. Maybe she has aspirations of taking over his position should he succumb to his condition, who knows, but it just doesn’t make sense to keep this charade up.

“With the exception of all those hundreds of psychologists questioning and criticizing Trump’s mental health...”

Which should have cost them their ability to practice.

Oz could examine Fetterman. Maybe he would give a fair report.
