In times past, a historical refrain echoed across America: “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” And nowhere was that directive more fittingly employed than in the Armed Forces.
In the past few years, however, the quote’s relevance appears to have waned.
Since the advent of our national defense, pride and sacrifice have ruled the day. The idea was pretty straight forward: When you sign up to serve, you give up your individuality. You become an instrument to be used by the government in whatever ways it sees fit. You surrender yourself to a system which views you as a number — no different than the person next to you — and demands your complete conformity. By participating in such a program, many young Americans have discovered the virtue of discipline, the reward of diligence, and the resultant self-respect of earned merit.
But these days, it seems, everyone should do the opposite of that suggested by John F. Kennedy during his 1961 inaugural address. Our new dictate: Demand what your country must do for you.
Apropos of the radical reversal, Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth recently laid out a Defense Department priority. During the Association of the Army’s annual conference, she asserted the branch isn’t woke — it’s just focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
The Army is here to care for those who’ve been harmed. It now sees each unique individual — including his or her color, sexual sensibilities, and self-perception — and it’s devoted to being inclusive:
“In terms of, you know, soldiers coming from, um, marginalized communities or, you know, demographics that are not widely represented in the Army, that’s part of why we’ve got to emphasize positive command climates and inclusion.”

and there’s still TWO MORE YEARS of this treason to come...
If you fill your military the same way you fill a cocktail party you get a cocktail party. Recruitment is falling for a reason, and it isn’t the recruits’ fault.
Their solutions always includes bringing down the successful, making people who thrive to be more like them. Any real achievement in their own communities is criticized and demonized as being “white”. This is Marxism 101, make everyone poor and unproductive. That’s how they want to achieve equality, by bringing other people down instead of raising everyone up.
It does not work. Diversity, inclusion, equity (DIE) fails. The Army secretary should be immediately fired. The Army secretary needs to be excluded from America. There is no place here for that type of thinking.
Marginalized communities
Does he mean straight white Christian men? Because this group has been heavily marginalized and ridiculed for at least 50 years.
“The Army is here to care for those who’ve been harmed.”
The army is here to harm those that didn’t care. The army is the big Doberman on the end of the leash that loves those that care about their owners but is prepared to bare its teeth and inflict great harm to those that try to harm their owners.
The army should not be made of gray area people. But now it is represented by them. They are people that have been turned gray by a failing society of certain liberal people using manipulative kindness in place of forced reasoning.
But the only place our current leaders use the old carrying of the big stick theory is with US citizens and not with semi civilized people of other countries that have already made their intent known about us to us our leaders are afraid to stand up to. And that’s where the Doberman has been forced into being a sheep and not the ultimate protector it is.
And our army has changed as society changes around it. But there’s still hope:
“Out of every 100 men in battle, ten shouldn’t even be there, eighty are just targets, nine are the real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the one—the one is a warrior—and he will bring the others back after the battle is done.”
Honor never grows old, and honor rejoices the heart of age. It does so because honor is, finally, about defending those noble and worthy things that deserve defending, even if it comes at a high cost. In our time, that may mean social disapproval, public scorn, hardship, persecution, or as always, even death itself. The question remains:
What is worth defending?
What is worth dying for?
What is worth living for?

Is it true that commie dupes don’t care if our military can win a war?
I wonder why they would feel that way.

Not saying this guy’s a commie - just asking for a friend...
That is one way to describe it, although I think it an understatement. Her professional career seems entirely due to her satisfying Team Obama's extensive checklist.
What's more, there is no record of her spending even one day in uniform.
Even better than our military being able to break things and kill adversaries, would be its ability to scare bad people into inaction. Perhaps if it appears to fit in with festival day in SF it will be able to do both.
Diversity, Inclusion, Equity. DIE.
Or, equally the gods they worship. Diversity, Equity. Inclusion, TrannY. DEITY.
fyi - you’re right about the showers...

If your daughter is planning to join the Army, she might find more hanging out in the shower than expected.
As reported by Breitbart beneath the banner of “exclusive,” the branch’s training includes updated instructions for bathing. And the rules are plenty far from what veterans would find familiar.
Yes, but you must wear them with the matching nail polish and mascara. /s
Swell. Someone who has never served and has spent her career as a govt bureaucrat
And he was correct
“Duty, Honor, Country.
The code which those words perpetuate embraces the highest moral laws and will stand the test of any ethics or philosophies ever promulgated for the uplift of mankind. Its requirements are for the things that are right, and its restraints are from the things that are wrong.”
Douglas MacArthur
Career DC swamp girl who has never served in the military, never even been close to a military base. Perfect to be Army Secretary.
EXACTLY!
That is so damned depressing. In my lifetime, I can hardly believe it has come to this.
