Russian "military commissars" say that the first attacks have been stopped, the Ukrainian side is silent.

What happened

On the morning of October 15, pro-Russian telegram channels wrote that the Armed Forces of Ukraine resumed a counteroffensive in the Kherson region, and about heavy battles in this direction. In recent days, analysts have discussed how the situation near Kherson can develop, and Ukrainian officials have said that Russians are preparing to flee the city. However, on the first day of the onset, the Ukrainian army did not seem to have achieved great success.

What is known about the new offensive

The first Russian "military correspondents" - Evgeny Poddubny, Alexander Sladkov, Yuri Kotenok, telegram channels "Two Majors", "Fisherman" and others - reported about the "big offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine" near Kherson.

According to their data, the offensive began after artillery preparation along the right bank of the Dnieper to the south - in the direction of Boryspil and Kherson. The main blow of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was struck from Dudchan and Novaya Kamenka in the direction of Mylavoy and Sukhanov. "Military commissars" reported that two battalion tactical groups and about 25 tanks were involved in the offensive. Poddubny wrote that in the morning the Ukrainian military also began shelling Russian positions in the "LPR" - in Severodonetsk and on the Kremennaya - Svatovo line.

Information about the beginning of the Ukrainian offensive was confirmed by Kirill Stremousov, Deputy Head of the Occupation Administration of Kherson region. He once again reminded residents of the opportunity to go to other regions of Russia. "Important Stories" wrote in detail about attempts to take out civilians on Friday. Later, Stremousov said that the new counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was "at the level of shelling."

The Ukrainian edition of "Insider UA" reported that Stremousov and the "top" of the occupation authorities of the Kherson region fled to Genichesk. This city is located in the south-east of the region about 175 kilometers from Kherson.

A few hours after the first news about the beginning of the offensive, the "military commissars" wrote that the first wave of attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine had been stopped. "The enemy used his favorite tactics: under the cover of massive artillery fire and strikes, the Haymars tried to get closer to our positions on pickup trucks and armored cars in order to constrain with combat and prevent maneuvering, but did not succeed - the attack was thwarted by the return fire of Russian artillery," wrote the telegram channel "Military Informant."

On October 15, the Ukrainian side did not officially announce the resumption of the offensive on Kherson. The media also did not provide almost any information, except for references to Russian sources. On Friday, the head of the press service of the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleg Zelinsky, answering a question about the release of Kherson, bit off a piece of watermelon and advised to wait for information from the General Staff.

On Saturday morning, Ukrainian telegram channels published a video allegedly showing the Russian military surrendering in the Kherson region. When the video was shot, it is not specified.

75 liberated settlements

The counteroffensive of the Ukrainian army near Kherson began at the end of August. On October 12, the head of the Ukrainian administration of the Kherson region Yaroslav Yanushevich said that during this time the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated 75 settlements. The Ukrainian military achieved the biggest success in early October. Then they managed to reach the Dnieper and significantly displace the Russian army.

The Russian military, who is in the Kherson direction, told "Important Stories" in those days that the dead and wounded are taken away from the locations of Russian troops every day. Before that, he said that Russians were under fire from the Armed Forces of Ukraine around the clock. According to him, all the soldiers "just have already scored on everything and want to get out of here," but after the announced mobilization they do not let anyone go. A young serviceman blew himself up with a grenade, said the military. He also said that they "do not have anything" of the security: "To eat, I go to the store, I also buy clothes myself."

Military analysts told "Important Stories" that it would be difficult for Russians to gain a foothold on new defensive lines. Experts found it difficult to say when the Armed Forces of Ukraine could take Kherson, noting that the city can be well fortified, and the Ukrainian army does not yet have experience in taking such large settlements.

On October 13, the Financial Times, citing the Western military, wrote that the Armed Forces of Ukraine could release Kherson next week. On the same day, Advisor to the Office of the President of Ukraine Alexey Aresovich said that the Ukrainian army would take the city no later than in a month and a half.

Men drafted into the Russian army for mobilization are already fighting in the Kherson region. On October 15, Vzglyad Info wrote about the death of four residents of Krasnoyarsk Krai in this region. According to relatives, the men were called up on September 26, a week later they were on the front line, and died on October 5 and 7.

The last push toward Kherson begins, and the trapped Russians have no where to go except into the Dnieper River or the Black Sea.

Oh joy! More dead boys and civilians on both sides. Will DC’s bloodlust ever be satisfied. Take off Zelensky’s shackles. Allow him to negotiate an end. The happiness of a slight ethnic Ukrainian majority at the expense of a slight ethnic Russian minority in Donbas is worth all of this?

KHERSON, October 15. /TASS/. The actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which on Saturday launched a counteroffensive in the Kherson region, so far include only shelling, deputy governor of the region Kirill Stremousov said on Saturday.

“Despite the shelling of the defense line, which is located in the Dudchan area, …, the counteroffensive that the Armed Forces of Ukraine tried to launch today is limited to shelling,” he said.

He said earlier on Saturday that the active phase of the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine started in the Kherson region, but the Russian army is ready to repel the attacks. “Our army is ready to repel all these attacks, to stand to the end. The Kherson region is a full-fledged subject of the Russian Federation,” he said in an interview with Solovyov.Live.“

Putin started this war to satisfy his imperialistic ambitions. The blood lust belongs to him. He can stop this anytime he wants by simply withdrawing from Ukraine.

The Ukrainians did a good fake. They announced that they were attacking in the south, and went east instead with great success.

I love the Putin good news bad news joke.

My Putin, the good news is that the Ukrainian Army has old obsolete equipment and weapons.

The bad news is that they took them from us!

Putin started this war to satisfy his imperialistic ambitions.

That's the rantings of a complete moron. For years, Russia drew a read line for NATO and Ukraine, Putin made that very clear. Ukraine took advice from biden and was proceeding to cross that read line.

There are three options as to how Kherson ends:

1. The Russians fight an organized delaying action and retreat in good order across the Dineper and set up new defenses of the East bank of the river.

2. The Russians fight a disorganized delaying action and retreat in disorder with heavy casualties across the Dineper.

3. The Russians fight a disorganized retreat and wind up with a large portion of their forces trapped in Kherson and get a good chunk of their better quality troops destroyed (captured or killed).

Well thank you for the very precise recitation of your big guy’s lies. Putin has no interest in occupying Ukraine. That should be pretty evident by the current military situation. Excluding the fare at the media masters’ feeding trough, where did Putin ever claim any desire for anymore territory than those recently annexed territories? Again, I ask you, is the happiness of that slight majority of ethnic Ukes in Donbas at the expense of the slight minority of ethnic Russians worth $500 million American taxpayer dollars a day and nuclear confrontation with the Russians?

They chose option 2 retreating from Kiev. They seem to be slow learners. I’m guessing they select option 2 again.

Putin doesn’t rule the world, and he started a war with Ukraine by invading it.

My money’s on #2, but #3 could very well happen too.

So that (false premise that it is) somehow justifies the destruction of entire Ukrainian cities and the slaughter of thousands of its innocent civilians?

“The last push toward Kherson begins, and the trapped Russians have no where to go except into the Dnieper River or the Black Sea.”

Are the bridges across the Dnieper blown? If so, the most logical retreat would be to the Black Sea. If they ARE able to retreat across the Dnieper, then they’d head for the stronghold of Crimea. Ejecting the Russians from Crimea would be a monumental task.

Russia’s intent was not to “occupy” all of Ukraine; it was to gobble up eastern Ukraine and overthrow the Kyiv government and install a pro-Russia toady, and basically turn Ukraine into another Belarus.

Answer me this. Why is it that Russia sees an attack coming from Ukraine, like in Kherson region, Russia immediately starts evacuating civilians out of the area. But when Ukrainians see a Russia attack coming, they push civilians into weaponized areas where they are the most likely to be killed or injured?
