Per the CDC, over 90% of diabetics are Type II.

I know quite a few.

None of them got that way eating a healthy diet.

Such individuals are insulin resistant, as opposed to insulin dependent.

Those who are insulin dependent are in line for exactly ***zero*** criticism from the public at large (and that includes mewzilla and Herschel Walker) for unwise dietary choices.

My wife is a a Type I diabetic. We eat very healthy because her life depends upon it. But the healthy diet did not prevent me from becoming a Type II diabetic.

FYI: We are both height/proportionate and exercise every day.

A healthful diet after being diagnosed can make a big difference. Especially a low carb diet.

None? Do you eat healthy every day? Do you drink? Are you perfect? Are you going to get sick and die?

My Dad was 5’10”, 160#, ate healthy his whole life due to high cholesteral and high blood pressure. Got type II diabetes in his 60’s. Died from kidney failure and ultimately heart failure.

Know a friend who is about 5’2”, under 100# and got Type II in her 40’s. No other health issues. Never saw her being unhealthy.

I know some really heavy people that have no issue with glucose or diabetes in their families.

All types of people, all types of genetics, all types of vices, death to all of us.

and Walker’s point was... if you can’t afford food at the grocery store there isn’t any way to eat right.

About 10 years I was heading towards a type II diagnosis and my wife retired as an office RN and became my home care RN and dietary counselor.

The first thing she did was getting me off the carbo based diet and back to normal foods with an emphasis on fresh fruit/nuts and veggies available 24/7 on the first kitchen counter in our kitchen.

If I get hungry between meals, I grab some good stuff off of that counter..

Within 6 months I had new and healthy glucose levels, and they have stayed there.

My GLUCOSE Level for basically the last decade: 100-102 mg/dL.

I also, try to walk one mile a day with the walking sticks.

I will be 84 next month.

Healthy Diet and exercise. Prevents and controls.

Walker was absolutely correct, if you don’t think he never listened to a trainer or a physical therapist, or a physician while pursuing a career in the NFL you’re probably very misdirected in your thinking.

The NFL treats their players like racing thoroughbreds, don’t doubt it. When the players are tired of being confined and they go out and raise hell well that’s on their own time but when it comes to the physicality and the maintenance of that physicality it’s all business.

Thanks for the clarification. I’m type 1, and high carb foods mean I need to take more insulin. Eating healthier won’t cure my diabetes, but it would make me healthier.
My brother-in-law cured his type 2 by losing weight.
