The United States will send munitions and military vehicles to Ukraine as part of a new $725 million security assistance package aimed at bolstering the country's defense against the Russian invasion, the Defense Department said on Friday.

The package is the first since Russia's barrage of missiles fired on civilian population centers in Ukraine this week. It will bring the total of U.S. security assistance since Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24 to more than $17.5 billion.

The contents of the latest package, first reported by Reuters, includes high-speed anti-radiation missiles (HARMs) and precision-guided artillery as well as medical supplies, the Defense Department said in a statement.

Just tell them to go pickup all they want from the piles we left in Afghanistan.
It’s not that far a ride.

This particular lot is nearly all from military stocks. Which the US has no other use for. It was all made, mostly many years ago, for the very targets the Ukrainians are now shooting it at.

We will not have any need for these weapons when the Chinese armor starts rolling across the fruited plain. Our political betters are in the process of just tightening the knot on the rope that we get hung with. The Crisis faze. Yuri Bezmenov. Remember Kruschev and his comments about giving us the noose to hang ourselves with? Americans falling into their hands like ripe fruit?

Of course. Nothing to see here!

Except that the west has been warned not to send any more military help to Ukraine.

Anybody out there have any teenage grandchildren, sons or daughters?
I do. Be sure a military draft is coming. And I do not wish for them to be cannon fodder for these tyrants playing global war games!

Great news for creepers, to be able to have new subjects to flush out the latest Putin-bot.

Welcome the new guy that is trying to make a buck or two, posting back-to-back 25cent responses on the same thread. Someday soon you’ll get the hang of it, Theo!

Dont worry!

The US is close to collapse for its own domestic reasons. It will reach an internal crisis before anyone will bother to mobilize anyone for a foreign war. And under present political circumstances nobody in power is going to propose that, because that on its own may well bring on that crisis. The US political class knows very well its walking on eggshells.

The Chinese Army needs to sail a long, long way across the ocean blue. That sort of adventure needs vast riches and many years to prepare. They arent even going to think about that in the middle of the global economic collapse that a US political crisis will bring. And they will have lots to worry about close to home.

And assuming a US military survives the coming political crisis, the principal way the US would fight China is right on that ocean blue. HIMARS and 155mm howitzer ammo are not made for ships or planes.

yup, but it started with Obama and the 2008 financial crisis

before that, the US budget deficit was about $200 billion per year and falling - not great, but somewhat manageable

then 2008 hit and the new budget which included massive TARP bailouts, which pushed the deficit over $1 billion ... but that was only supposed to be a ONE-time thing

instead, the Democrats (who now controlled the WH and Congress) decided that they liked having lots of money to spend, and made those giant budgets basically permanent ... every budget since has had trillion-dollar shortfalls (and 2022 was the worst so far)

The 2008 financial crisis got its start when Duhbya was elected.

See my FR home page for details.

The system collapsed too soon. It was supposed to happen under Obama's watch, but the Bush's Wall Street banksters got too greedy and the bubble grew too fast.
