Eight dollars for a gallon of gas. Once, it seemed like an impossibility; now, it seems to happen in California every time there is a price spike. I am in an expensive area, and I haven’t seen $7 gas. I think it was $5.89 when I bought yesterday.
That is very telling.

Both!
The only stations that charge as much as $8 are stations near airports and stations that make most of their money off repairing cars.
Just for the basics, it's very expensive just to live there..Let alone doing anything, go anywhere or buying anything.

They’ll blame the refiners, of course, and they’re partly right, as the refiners are having to buy ‘carbon credits’, and they are afraid to point that out...and hence the extra $2 to $3 per gallon.
...but then again, it’s what most of the people there want, since most were ‘educated’ there.

Adds another $0.67 per gallon to the cost of gasoline. It could be more now. No other state uses it and CA cannot bring bring in gasoline from another state.
That douche also sits on the board overseeing California’s electric grid. What a f-up.
Got out of there 21 years ago. Never looked back.
Soon they shall be recording gasoline prices on a per-ounce basis. That way, it doesn’t look quite so bad.
