Dumocrats try to follow science fiction. That is the premise of “Snow Piercer”. “Scientists” try to cool the earth, and it resulted in a world-wide ice age. Only the rich and powerful can buy a ride on Snow Piercer. The train moves around the globe while testing the earth to see if it’s warming up.

There are other examples. The Planet Miranda in “Serenity.” Their manipulation of the environment to remove anger and violence from the population caused the Reavers.
I wrote a science fiction book a couple of decades ago called fallen angel. It brings up this very issue. Basically, in the book, the world is looking at glaciers edging down through Montana again. It’s because of the work of the world governments to cool the planet decades before. I would not be surprised if snowpiercer got its idea from that book actually.
By the way, have you heard the array of arguments that snowpiercer is a sequel to Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory?
