So are the French and the British. Germans and Spanish, too. Barbarism is what everyone tries to grow beyond, but wars put it to the test. Eastern Europeans aren’t as far removed from the barbarism as Englishmen or Frenchmen, though. But it’s only been a few hundred years since Preston Pans and the suppression of the Scottish clans, or the French reign of terror.
Original sin...that vestige of barbarism in all of us.
