...Federal officials have spent the past year urging Americans to get booster shots to bolster their protection against the coronavirus, which wanes over time....But the campaigns have lagged badly. Only about 105 million U.S. adults — roughly 40 percent — have received the third shot of vaccine initially offered a year ago, according to federal data, a far lower rate than countries like the United Kingdom, where more than 70 percent of adults have gotten a third dose. That figure is also well behind the 200 million U.S. adults who completed their primary series of shots.
Early data shows that just over 11 million Americans — or about 4 percent of those eligible — have received the new bivalent booster shots.

Emanuel said that while he believes such organizations should require the new shots, he has no plans for another campaign, citing legal challenges and other complications.
“A lot of people who were vaccinated later got omicron — I think that’s not getting enough attention when we talk about the appetite for boosters,” Emanuel added. “People have become a bit cynical about the vaccines’ benefit. I know people who have gotten four shots and still got infected.”

I got three shots. Still got covid. Anyway. It worked against the original strain. That virus is no longer here. We all have some form of immunity to the virus so we are in a different shape than we were in March ‘20.
People are being told unless they are in high risk groups they’re not allowed a booster because the CDC guidelines.

The new shot hasn’t been out long, and many have already had the BA.4/5 variant, probably including myself. No hurry.
