Look, the USA and UK are guarantors of the Budapest Memorandum. The deal may be 30 years old and need updating, but its our deal, and Russia’s, and Ukraine’s, and Belarus’, to honor. The deal is, none of us attack the ex Soviet States and if one state is attacked it can call on the others to intervene. It is the security guarantee Ukraine insisted on when giving the nukes to Russia. If it fails, Ukraine will insist on another guarantee.

I get that America is poorer than a church mouse these days and can’t afford baby milk let alone prosecute a war in Afghanistan, let alone Ukraine. And i agree, ideally America should pull out of NATO, stop meddling in the internal affairs of other countries, and undo the bad rep it got after Iraq.

I get that us Brits are in year 12 of austerity while our government that couldn’t find £10m to keep vital services open magically found £200m for its interior decorators and £300 billion down the back of the sofa to enrich its mates including the owner of a tory MP’s local pub for the COVID gold rush.

Compared to the Tories here and the industrial scale COVID & LGBT corruption in the USA, the sums of money Russia accuses Ukraine of rinsing (especially during the Poroshenko years) is chump change.

Putin can talk - him and his oligarchs stole over a trillion dollars worth out of Russia sinxe the breakup of the USSR and half that country still doesn’t have indoor plumbing because of it.

If binding nonaggression treaties can be broken on such cockamamie bases as financial fraud by any party, we’re all screwed because we’re all dirtier than Ukraine.

All we can do for now is stick to what’s morally defensible. In 1991 the UN assembly supported the liberation of Kuwait from illegal invasion by iraq. In 2022 the UN assembly condemned the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

On both occasions the state being illegally invaded asked the UN to intervene. On both occasions, just as our roles demand, we listened and acted.

Ukraine has been of great service to NATO for years without pointing so much as a stick at Russia. It has partnered with us. When it called for assistance NATO simply couldn’t say no.

Russia violated its permanent nonaggression pactwith Ukraine AND US; we have honored that same agreement. It’s that simple.

On February 23rd, Russians thought they lived in a country with the 2nd most powerful military.

Today they realize their military is somewhere near #14.

Well the USA and Russia pro used in 1994 to safeguard Ukraine’s borders in exchange for Ukraine giving up its nuclear weapons.

“This could have been ended months ago if Ukraine agreed that they would not join NATO”

That’s a Putin lie.

In 2008 Georgia and Ukraine had applied to join NATO.

They were rejected by France and Germany for fear of “provoking Russia”.

6 weeks after this rejection, Putin invaded Georgia.

In may Zelensky offered to not apply to join NATO. Outin rejected that, showing it was not the reason for the war.

Putin invades countries that are not part of NATO. That’s why Ukraine, Estonia etc want to be part of NATO

Did you read my post? I stated very clearly that I don’t support US policy of meddling in Ukraine. I don’t support US imperialism, Joe Biden’s handling of the situation or other players such as Soros or Zilinsky.,
The question we need to ask is whether at this juncture is if the US will reward Putin’s aggressive behavior.
If so, we can expect a lot more of it
I don’t mind having a discussion with you but lay off the condescending remarks. Using the nazi insult only makes you look foolish.
I don’t know why people on this thread cannot have respectful conversations but prefer to banter with insults those with opposing views.

“What could go wrong with helping one side in someone else’s war?”

Both countries are vile. If PDJT were in the White House now I believe he’d let them duke it out and we’d be out of it.

Biden, et al., can’t afford to lose the DC pols’ Chief Money Launderer. I often wonder how much $ Liz Cheney and her family (that includes the Bushes) runs through Ukraine.

I get that America is poorer than a church mouse these days and can't afford baby milk let alone prosecute a war in Afghanistan, let alone Ukraine.

Sprechen Sie Deutsch? Yes, without the USA you would be speaking German. We have saved your sorry butts on numerous occasions in numerous ways. The Democrats here are trying to take us down the same sorry path that you Brits are now on. 2 years ago 43.4% of London's population identified as “White British”. Britain has already given up its national heritage after we saved them repeatedly from almost certain German annihilation at great expense in both American lives and treasure.

Look at WWII for God's sake, and things weren't going so well during WWI either before the USA intervened. But since that time, you sophisticated brits opened the doors and given your country away to any 3rd world beggar who wanted to escape the sh*tholes they came from. Your freedom was paid for with American lives and treasure... I am willing to bet that many of the hundreds of thousands of Americans who died saving your country would have politely bowed out if they knew what a bunch of yellow weasels you really were.

Your version of revisionist history while I am sure is fully backed up by the MSM and the Biden administration is missing a few important points that many here do not seem to be aware of.

First... the history of Russia and Ukraine goes back over 1000 years. “Kyiv, now Ukraine's capital, was at the center of the first Slavic state, Kyivan Rus, the birthplace of both Ukraine and Russia.” It is in a part of the world that has been characterized by violence and nastiness. When the Ukraine was annexed by the Russian empire in 1793 it at least gave them some reprieve from being constantly overrun by their neighbors along with being part of a country that they shared a common heritage with.

Of course, things took a turn for the worse when the Reds took over, but the same can be said for most of Eastern Europe. It is not the United State's responsibility to sort out the nonsense taking place in the entire world indefinitely. And this applies especially, to saving one of the most corrupt regimes in the world. Zelinsky has surrounded himself largely with people who adorn themselves in Nazi regalia and are brutal murderers... Yeah, just the allies we want. The first thing that should be done before one more American dime is spent is sending Zelinsky packing and stripping him of the hundreds of millions of dollars he has sponged off the Ukrainian people after being installed by Soros and Western intelligence agencies.

This entire fiasco is exactly what we should expect from Biden and the deep state and also from you idiot brits. So good riddance please just go away.

“It is not the United State’s responsibility to sort out the nonsense taking place in the entire world indefinitely.”

No it isn’t. And as I said most of the world would be quite happy if America did that.

But America shouldn’t be cutting back on playing Team America: World Police to save a lousy buck because that’s a cretin reason. No, it should be cutting back because it’s just not America’s job to police the world.

Nonetheless, the world actually doesn’t have a problem with America defending foundational UN Charter principles like the right of recognition and self determination, or America sticking to binding international nonaggression agreements that it signed willingly, instead of violating them like Russia does.

First rule of America, post ??????? at least since Obama, don’t believe the MSM or the governments official sources.

Just like they TOLD us what Usama Bin Laden said on his tapes, but was it really him, and was that what he said?

Our government is rotten to the core, and the “mighty men”, the elected of the land, are no bigger than a mote.

Those you can count on are the few.
