New York Gov. Kathy Hochul was caught on a hot mic Thursday telling President Biden that Democrats ought to try to score partisan points with the bipartisan $280 billion CHIPS and Science Act.
“This allows us to push back at the Republican narrative that we’re tax and spend and not pro-business,” Hochul told Biden after he spoke at an IBM facility in Poughkeepsie — linking the visit to the Nov. 8 midterm elections.
Hochul’s remark came after Biden said “we have to get our heads together.”
Although the bill does give generous support to technology companies working on semiconductors and other high-tech projects, it’s unclear why the governor thought the bill doesn’t count as bigtime spending.

Biden and Hochul were privately huddling with other Democratic elected officials, including Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, when the governor provided the campaign talking points.
“It’s huge,” Maloney, arms folded, said after Hochul’s partisan pitch.
Biden was visiting the Hudson Valley to celebrate IBM’s plan to spend $20 billion locally over the next decade on research, development and production of high-tech semiconductors and computers and made broader remarks on the recently passed $280 billion CHIPS and Science Act.

But Republicans weren’t buying Biden and Hochul’s claims that the Democrats are pro-business, with events coming just weeks before the Nov. 8 election.
“New York has chased hundreds of thousands of jobs out of state with asinine tax and regulatory policies, so it’s comical to hear President Biden, Governor Hochul, and Rep. Sean Maloney wondering on a hot mic if the microchip deal might get them off the hook for years of bad policy choices. It will not,” said state Assemblyman Mike Lawler, the Repubilcan challenging Maloney in Hudson Valley’s 17th Congressional District.

There is no such thing as a “hot mic”, it’s always intentional.
Sure. You all just blew 280 million bucks, but you’re not “tax and spend”. FU
But maybe there is a “hit mic?”
The Dems aren’t anti-business as long as it is a mega corporation that they can work in tandem with to crush the middle class. They are most decidedly anti-small business though.
Imagine what our world would be like without these idiots putting their grubby, greedy, corrupt hands all over everything. All they need to do is maintain order, and everything else will sort itself out far better without their constant, moronic interference.
Biden was talking about consolidating the bathrooms on the 1st floor of the White House.

“Voters tell us every day they are fed up with Biden policies on the economy, law enforcement and border security.”
And yet she will be reelected as NY gov.......they all deseach other.
OBTW.....I predict that chip manufacturer will move to Fla or Texas within 10 years.
Like The Coneheads?
The problem with the chips act, is that without protective tariffs, the manufacturing will migrate back to foriegn countries. They’ll take the manufacturing equipment bought with funds from teh Chips act and ship them overseas. And facilities are sellable.
You need both. Incentives to move back and protective tariffs to keep them from moving again.
It sounds like New Yawk’s number one hooker is up to some political shenanigans.
They wouldn't enforce Clayton, Sherman or other anti-monopolistic legislation during the merger mania when Clinton was president and when Bill Gates was crushing all competitors to Microsoft.
We have to get our heads together is code for “I haven’t the slightest clue WTF to do.”
Any government money will fail at whatever it is intended to do. There are several reasons for this, but in this case, it is because the first impulse of someone receiving government money is to get more. This means the last thing they’d want to do is solve whatever problem is getting them this money. A man named Langley was tasked by the government to prove whether or not manned flight was possible. He decided that any attempt to fly would have to be done from a new houseboat which he purchased with grant money. About the time the Wright brothers flew for the first time he had submitted a report essentially saying that manned flight couldn’t happen but for more grant money he’d keep trying. They latter named an aircraft carrier after him.
Very well said.

We would likely have a balanced budget and super low gas prices and food prices etc. Life would be just unbearable I tells ya.
Exactly, this was no unintentional “hot mic” incident. Just a side door move spin move. They think we’re idiots, they really do.
And then, there's Jeffrey Toobin.
