CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – The Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia has ruled in a three-to-two vote that the is constitutional, according to West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey.
Morrisey announced this afternoon, Oct. 6, 2022, that the court reversed the decision handed down by a Kanawha County Circuit Court judge that blocked the Hope Scholarship.
West Virginia State Treasurer Riley Moore says the Hope Scholarship program will be up and running again “effective immediately.”
“I want to thank the WV Supreme Court for ruling that the Hope Scholarship is constitutional!” Moore said. “This is a win for West Virginia families. Effective immediately, this program is back up and running to provide better educational outcomes for our state’s students.”

Wish this would come to Michigan. I pay over $4K in property taxes to support schools, but can't put any of that towards my daughter's Catholic School.

This is good news after some woke lesbo dyke circuit court judge declared the law unconstitutional in June.

The Hope Scholarship voucher program was signed into law by West Virginia Governor Jim Justice in 2021 with plans for it to go into effect for the 2022-2023 school year. More than 3,000 students have already been awarded the scholarship which would be used for education purposes this fall. Each student receives $4,300 to go toward private or homeschooled education.

That is an excellent program. It should be pushed by normal people in every red state.

In view of the execrable and terrifying report released concerning the grade proficiency levels in reading and math etc. in so many school (with only 3% of black students reading in some classes at grade level proficiency) it is clear that more of the same simply will not fix a problem that actually threatens national security as this generation comes of age.
"More of the same" has always meant more money for teachers unions who are responsible for this state of affairs. The system is so thoroughly corrupt that it has to be circumvented. A system that enables Democrat legislators to grant taxpayer money to unionize Democrat teachers who in tern repatriate a part of that money to Democrat election campaigns, has put the interests of children in last place.
The only solution is to get the teachers unions out of control and place parents in control with a voucher system-nothing else has a chance to save this generation.

And additionally, an award to parents under said program should cancel any local tax of said parents directed to the unionized public school. Public unionized schools need to be shut down, as well as citizens taxed to pay for such orgs!

Private schools have gotten very expensive. My children went to a private school in the 90’s and I paid about $5000 for each of them. Today that same school is $15,000 a year.

When you consider many cities spend over $30,000 per student, we’d be better off trashing the Ecoles Indoctrinaires and spending the difference on Doritos for everyone.
To: heylady
15,000 is a bargain compared to what public schools cost.

Yes they have. I sent my child to private (Christian) school, elementary through High School graduation.
Some family members thought I was nuts. However, the results speak for themselves.
Fortunately, we have a dollar-for-dollar tax credit in our
state for private school tuition, up to $2500,
that helps some (the left has tried to get it cancelled).
Although I would have stood on a corner with a
cardboard sign asking for donations to keep my child there.
